ANZA BORREGO STATE PARK

The Anza-Borrego area is a vast and intriguing area that covers much of San Diego County and parts of Riverside and Imperial counties from the Santa Rosa Mountains to the Mexican border.

The name comes from the Spanish captain, Juan Bautista de Anza, who was the captain of the epic 1776 San Francisco colonial expedition and the Spanish word, Borrego, which means "Bighorn Sheep."

The park is more then one million acres, divided between the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and the federal Bureau of Land Management.

Included in these pages are some of the areas of the park that my husband and I have traveled over a 13 year span. I hope you enjoy these pictures and that you may someday look at these areas yourself.

Thank you.........Desert Rose

Because the Park is so large, I have put the pages in areas. Just click on the name and it will take you to that area with all the info that I have. Thank you.

PIONEER CORRIDOR This is the S2 Highway from Shelter Valley to Interstate 8.
