Brass Ring Horse Massage
I feel any horse can benefit from massage. A horse is an athlete and is being used for something it is not designed to do…Riding. Since we take this upon ourselves, we need to take the responsibility to keep the horse as comfortable as possible.
I got into massage over 10 years also when I had a QH that bucked in the canter. I happen to come across an article by Jack Meagher and released a knot in my QH”s back. We went on to be Reserve Champions in our Local Dressage Club.
Since this time, I have attended Equissage, studied biomechanics of the horse, am a distributor for Magnetic Force Magnetic Products and am now in the process of becoming a Tteam Practitioner.
Another aspect I bring to my practice is I am an active rider and competitor. I have always ridden not so perfect horses and have made them my project. Saki is my partner in the picture. He is my X-TB racehorse and my current horse. He spent two years on the track and never won a race but has a lot of heart, which is what kept him at the track. He survived a barn collapse, which is what put him out of racing. He spent the worst winter in years outside and was purchased by me in the spring of 1994. I knew I could make this handsome but at the time withdrawn horse into a dressage horse. It has been an up and down path for us. but here he is now doing his first Second Level test in this picture.
I learned that although horses are athletes they do not always move in the most effective way. They can set themselves up for continual discomfort by not correcting their way of going. Just making the horse feel better does not always ensure they would or could move correctly. If a preexisting condition is not corrected i.e. an ill fitting saddle the problem will just occur again. This is why I continued to study correct riding, Tteam/Ttouch and am always seeking new ways to help the horse.
I also like to get the horse’s input in the massage. I often ask the horse “what is wrong” and most times get an answer. I do not profess to be an Animal Communicator but I do use whatever input I receive in the approach I take with that particular horse. I find they have personalities just as diverse as people but with sincerity. What you see is what you get.
I also have a BSN in nursing and have close to 20 years experience in various fields i.e. Critical Care, Open Heart and Ambulatory Surgery. I bring this diverse experience to my massage practice. It also works as my therapy. I truly love it and come away feeling refreshed and calmed. My biggest thrill is in seeing a horse become a happy working partner after a massage.
