I have no idea who 'Lee' is, now. I would guess
that the teacher had told some sort of story, then had asked for an illustration
of the scene. In any event, the train was an important part of my adolescence
as I lived near the train tracks, so the train was always a source of interest.
When the trains would pass we'd make a motion with our forearms which told
the conductor to blast the air horn. I'd place pennies on the tracks as
I walked to school in the morning, and would look for them when on my way
home to see if they had been flattened.
When young, both my father and grandfather worked for the railroad. The
legend was always that they were the only two who were both strong enough,
and just the right hight to lift the gigantic train wheels from the axle
without the aid of any machine.
