Reuben Hurtt Sr. ~
This picture was of Reuben Hurtt Sr. as a young man in Scott County, Tennessee.
Reuben was born April 24, 1850 and died August 1, 1924 in New River, Scott County, Tennessee.
Wife Olive Sexton Hurtt was born September 18, 1860 in New River, Scott County, Tennessee.
Reuben and Olive were married in New River, Tennessee on January 20, 1876.
This page honors them. Reuben and Olive had seven children.

Sheriff 1876-1882 in Scott County and a lawyer.
Helped form a debating club in Scott County, Tennessee.
He was a Tennessee State Legislator for Scott County.
The picture at the bottom of the page is of his term in the legislature.

Second Home of the Reuben Hurtt Sr. Family ~Date about 1881-1915 ~
Grandpa L.C. was the first child to be born in Harriman, Roane County, Tennesee.
The writing on this photo was the work of Reuben Jr. Thank you Uncle Reuben for helping us keep up with this lovely family.

The couple who started this family. The picture is marked: Father: Reuben Hurtt Sr. and Mother: Olive Sexton Hurtt.
Either in Tennessee or in Kentucky.



Reuben Hurtt Sr. ~ Son, Reuben, wrote on the back of this picture:
"Grand Pa- Reuben Hurtt picture taken while he was able to walk fairly well, he was stricken soon after this and passed away in 1925
at New River, Tenn. He was buried at Williamsburg, Kentucky.
(correction to date: Reuben Sr. according to death certificate died in 1924)
