At the age of 12 Tamahome lost his mother, and shortly after his father became very ill. Being the eldest of the Sou family, Tamahome was and is the only hope for his families survival. Through out his whole life everthing he had done was for his family; their safety and well being was the only important thing to him. He did everything in his power to earn money to bring home to his family. To the average eye it would appear that Tamahome's main concern is money, but if they knew the reason why...

For Tamahome his whole life changed when he met Miaka. His heart began to grow large enough to care for her just as much as he does for his family. After awhile, he realized that it is okay to make himself happy and not just his family.

His "Ogre" symbol appears when someone dear to his heart is in danger, namely Miaka or a family member, unleashing a terrible power
