These waters come from miles and miles away. Since the desert doesn't soak up rainfall nearly as fast as dirt, rainwater quickly runs off to natural washes like this one.

This golf course was built in a desert wash on purpose. Homes could not be built here and a little flood once or twice a year doesn't do as much damage to the fairways, traps and greens as one would imagine.
