Tunes
This is my prototype Hip Hop page as the original was wiped when I tried to add my animations ! So Hip Hop is the Flava you just gotta luv it ...... I been into Hip Hop for so long it is a part of my life.... Yall remember MC Hammer's U Can't Touch This ... damn that was good .... look how everything has moved on now .... I bought the LL Cool J album "All World", and his old stuff sounds OLD (that's why it is old stuff) - he sounds like a young Fresh Prince but with better lyrics.... and then it goes on and you hear how the beats changed .. a lot of scratching before, but that has gone nowadays. NWA came out with a different style, Ice T with his stuff .... and then Gangsta rap came into fashion. When NWA broke up, we had Ice Cube coming out with all the good stuff ... and then Dre came in wit Snoop to take rap to a G-Funk level. The Dogg Pound followed and the G Funk era was born with Warren G/Nate Dogg's "Regulate" from the Above the Rim Soundtrack. G Funk got old though... been around too long with the same beats, and then Wu-Tang hit the scene with their original beats to blow everything away .. and with Ice Cube dormant, Wu Tang took over the rap scene. Wu Tang proceeded to release solo albums... when this period is over, they will get back together as a group and make another Wu Tang album. Tupac Shakur (aka 2Pac, R.I.P.) went to prison for the alleged rape of a young fan (I hear he DID NOT rape her, it was his crew, but I am not clear of the details). He recorded his album "Me Against The World" which blew up, with the singles "Dear Mama", etc. His time in prison seemed to fortify his Thug Nature and when he was released he quickly recorded the double album "All Eyez On Me" releasing singles such as "California Love" with Dr. Dre, "How Do You Want It" with K-Ci and Jo-Jo of Jodeci. This single featured a track called "Hit 'Em Up" in response to comments from the East Side rappers, mainly Biggie Smalls aka Notorious B.I.G. and Mobb Deep. 2Pac said he slept with Faith Evans, Biggie's wife and all this blew up and the East/West Rift began. Then, 2Pac was murdered after the Tyson v Seldon fight in Las Vegas.... And now Biggie has also been murdered, possibly by one of his hired bodyguards from the gang of Crips...
Well since writing all of the above ... my musical tastes and everything have
moved on a lot and I like listening to a lot of the old skool stuff as that
is where all the samples come from. I have been getting tired of Puffy flooding
the market with his dance hip-pop, but the good thing is that it moves the
spotlight onto all the OLD stuff so hopefully people will go and find them and
see how good rap music should be made.
Also, since then I am listening to the more so-called 'harder' rap. Stuff like the old and new Gangstarr stuff, EPMD, Company Flow, DJ Premier's mix tape, all of that kinda stuff and i am trying to get a lot of the good stuff from back in the day like 3rd Bass' Cactus Album.
One thing that is beginning to annoy me is people talking about keep it real just listen to the underground. That ain't where it at. I don't mind Puffy doing his thang with his dance stuff cos a guy want a girl to dance wit in a club not just to go there and stick to da wall u know? People be acting like get rid of Puffy but it is still hip hop and if it gets hip hop into the spotlight people will listen to it and then start listening to the ones with deeper content.
Why do people keep using the term 'playa-hate' and act like u aint allowed to do this ? Why not ? It's a free world you do what you want right ? And aint all girls playa-haters anyway? They aint want they man sleeping around with everyone. And all that flossing and stuff getting tired wit all that fake stuff .... now how many dope dealers can make it as a rapper ?????? It's getting ridiculous.
That's me for now.... I havent really structured it properly but I'll be comin at yall soon.
Peace.
Check the Album Releases dates.
Also, I am working on a hip hop magazine that should be up sometime. Let me know what you'd
like to see in it.
