maybe the moon doesn't lie
maybe the moon doesn't lie
i sit here in the moonlight
and wonder as the shadow
so quick and easily passes the moon
could it be the happiness that eludes me
maybe, just maybe, too fast--and oh, too soon
so quietly, and quickly, i seem to pass away
i sit here in the moonlight
shortly before nightfall transcends the dawn
should i, perhaps, have a few more beers
ah yes, the liquid courage of nightfall to precede the dawn
so quietly, and quickly, i seem to pass away
i sit here in the moonlight
slowly praying for yet another day
then as the stupor of another night passes
will there be the path to yet another day
so quietly, so quickly, i fade away
and maybe i had no reason for being
let it all come forth and surround me
maybe, then, with tomorrow's rays of light
i can possibly find a new way to be
so quietly, so quickly, i fade away
.....it's shadow fell upon me,
maybe the moon doesn't lie?.....
maybe tomorrow,
so here i'll stay
