This is one of my favorite photos. I had just entertained at a
Motion Picture Council Celebrity Luncheon
and (former child star) Margaret O'Brien sent her "person" backstage
to invite me over to her table. A few months later, at another Council gathering
the photographer who took the picture, gave it to me.
Margaret O'Brien was there too and she very happily signed it for me
I consider my unique voice, a very special gift.
One which was given to me to share with others
in order to make them smile.
I'm proud to say that I have NEVER abused this gift
and try to be more humble than boastful about it.
There are thousands of singers in this world. Many of
which have attained great fame and fortune.
While I may not have attained the fame,
I have received the "fortune".
Not in a monetary way, but in ways that
have made me richer in my heart and soul.
To me, that is more important than money.
I try to encourage EVERYONE to sing. It can be so
very good for one's physical and mental well-being.
(Proven Fact: Singing lowers Blood Pressure and Relieves Stress).
I know that alot of people really don't like KARAOKE, but
I think it's terrific! I've seen "wallflowers" break
out of their shell; People who could barely carry a tune
in the beginning, go on to develop their voice and win contests;
and Men propose to to their girlfriends by singing to them.
(That's actually how MY husband proposed to me).
