Dear Editor,
I am amazed at the lack of perception of the vast number of Americans that still hold to the notion that we are “ONE NATION UNDER GOD” I agree with the Psalmist who wrote so long ago; “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord”. A nation is only “under God” to the extent that the hearts and lives of the individuals that make up that nation are under His divine influence.
When I consider; that we as a nation butcher more than 4,000 unborn Americans every day; that we as a nation have outlawed prayer, Bible reading, and group Bible study in school; that we as a nation protect and support homosexual lifestyles and other abominations for which God destroyed entire nations; that we as a nation turn a blind eye to the corruption, wickedness and injustice of those who hold public office; that we as a nation imprison more of its citizens per capita than any other civilized nation in the world; that the attitude of those who run our nation’s largest companies can be best summed up in the words from a Hollywood movie – “greed is good”- I have to conclude that we as a nation have left God out of the equation and that He in return has withdrawn His blessing from us as a nation.
I wish it were otherwise, but I can find no evidence to support the notion that we are “ONE NATION UNDER GOD”.
