Conclusion
For this article, we have taken "symbolic interactionism"
as a theoretical framework and attempted to study the "sensitizing agents"
in Iranian Azerbaijani poetry since 1979. We have focused on selected
poems by seven contemporary poets, the best known literary and educational
figures in Iranian Azerbaijan. Some of the themes that make up the
main messages of their poetry and are conveyed mostly by figures of speech
are: freedom and its important position in the Azerbaijani system
of values; love of the homeland; the significance of time; feelings of
alienation and loneliness; abhorrence of social corruption; protecting
mother nature and her beauties; and preserving ancient myths and their
covert implications. In retrospect, one easily can see that these
literary achievements provide for communicative actions not only among
the Azerbaijani poets themselves but also between sensitizing agents in
modem societies throughout the world. This aspect gives hope that
a better and more humane future can develop in the hearts of all who are
concerned with improving the social conditions of people everywhere.
