She was the daughter of
Thomas Christensen and Christine (CHRISTENSDATTER) THOMSEN.
The following was from their Granddaughter, Clara (Jensen) Webb:
Lars and Marie homesteaded land west and south of Viborg. Their first home was a dug-out. During the first winter some relatives
came in their sled to see how they were doing. The drifts were so high that the visitors drove right over the dug-out; fortunately the horses did not break through! After the first crop of corn had been harvested Lars found that the price was so low that it was not worth taking to market so they burned their excess as fuelfor heating and cooking. Since trees were nearly nonexistent he had to make a trip to the river near Yankton to cut trees for fuel.
