Applying To Colleges?
Applying to Universities may be a long and hard decision, especially with the high application fees. To help you make your decision on which colleges to apply to, I have listed some questions that I took into consideration when I was applying to colleges about one year ago. Ask yourself these questions, and this will help you find where you want to go:
- Do I want to go to school in-state or out-of-state?
- Do I want to stay close to home, or far away?
- How much will it cost me to attend the University of my choice? (Make sure you include tuition and fees, housing and meals, books, travel, and miscellaneous)
- Does the University offer an "in-state" discount or scholarships?
- Does the school offer finacial assistance?
- What kind of weather do I like? (ie. rain, snow, hot, cold, etc.)
- Do I want to go to a school with a high reputation or a well-known "party school?"
- Do I qualify for the University? (ie. Are my SAT or ACT scores follow the requirments, do I have the classes, and grades that is required, etc. Refer to the Admission Application for University Requirements)
- What are the average class sizes?
- Do I want to go to the same University that my friends are going to?
- Do they offer MY major?
- Does the University have the activities I wish to participate in?
These are just a few of the questions that you need to take into consideration BEFORE applying to a University. You don't want to waste the money if they don't offer what you want. DO NOT APPLY to a school that does not offer your major!!!!! There are still several questions that could help you make your decision. Just make sure you read the information that the school sending you. Don't apply to the school that sends you the most mail, but always research the schools before you apply. NewsWeek and Time magazines publish a "Best College" book; refer to those publications for help in researching the Universities. I have also listed the PAC 10 colleges for your help on making your decision. Good luck on your application process, and if you have any question, please e-mail me.BACK TO HOME
