As you have heard, and can see, the University of Arizona has an awesome sports program. The U of A always ranks in the Top 10 of atheltic ability in the nation! After our unbeliable victory against the Kentucky Wildcats in the Final Four, and our awesome Lady's Softball team, we are looking to even bigger and better rankings in the future.
FOOTBALL
Well, I can't say our Football team is the best, but it certainly isn't the worst! Ortege Jenkins, Long Beach, California native, has taken this team into some awesome games. We upsetted #16 ranked Stanford, and almost sent Washington State's undeafted record to the trash can, as Arizona lost by only 1 point in overtime. Arizona is looking forward to two goods to close-out this season against Oregon State on November 8th, and Berkeley on November 15th. Arizona will be playing rival Arizona State on Thanksgiving Evening at SunDevil Stadium in Mesa. Lets see if the SunDevils will win, or will Arizona WildCats pull off another upset!!
CROSS-COUNTRY
What can I say about the Arizona Cross-Country team. Last year they were plagued with injurys that hurt the team, but this year with some additions, the UA X-Country team is running away from everyone. They've ran away in 1st place victories at the Jammin' Invational in Brea, CA and the Aztec Invitational in San Deigo, CA. Two Second place finishes at the Mountain West Classic in Missoula, Montana and at the Murray Keatinge Invitational in Orono, MA. David Lopez, from Glendale, California is helping lead the team to victory. Lopez was the '96 CIF Division I individual Champion, and helped his team to place third.
Girl's Volleyball
the Girl's Volleyball team is awesome!! With only one lose, which was to USC, this team will certainly make it to post-season play. Less than seven games until the regular season is over, but before the team can concentrate on post-season, they have to concentrate on Washington State (11/1); Berkeley (11/7), Stanford (11/9), Oregon (11/14), Oregon St. (11/16); USC (11/21) and UCLA (11/22).
