An icepick in the ear of The Howard Unruh Band.Setting fire to sinking ships. The end complete.Today I watched a good friend die and I killed a part of myself.

Our band was started out of frustration and desperation. Our desperate quest for substance in a world with little to offer urban, blue collar, post teens.Unruh was born five years ago. When punk rock and hard core were at their lowest.Underground music was,for the most part soft and unchallenging,we tried to change that.We played what we wanted to play, how we wanted to play it.No compromise. We wrote songs about our lives, our politics and our worlds. We sought to reignite what was left of our hard core. The music we all loved,a side of punk that was dying before our very eyes.We wanted to play the kind of music that makes kids punch bedroom walls.Brutal hard core.We where going to play our music whether or not anyone wanted to hear it.Eventally they did want to hear it and we were happy to oblige. We realised a demo,a seven inch, two splits, two full lengths and some comps. We toured whenever finacially possible. The west coast several times, the whole U.S. once, and most recently Europe.Which was the beginning of the end.Lets take a turn for the worse.

Alot of our music was born of conflict. We are four strong individuals.Individuals with our own histories, ideas and ideals. Not one yes man in this band, four hard headed fuckers.Yet we always found a compromise. We worked towards a common goal.We worked for a shared love.We labored to make Unruh part of each of us and as a result we became part of it.Four equal parts.Somewhere along the line this balance was broken and the machine began to come apart. We blow a gasket, which started the chain reaction, the eventually seized the engine and brought Unruh to a halt.

Do not mourn for us,avenge us.Affect hard core and change history.Good bye for now.
