STAMP COLLECTING
Stamp collecting became a popular hobby soon after the first
stamps were issued in 1840. Today millions of people all over the world have stamp
collecting or philately as a favourite hobby. In Australia, all stamps are issued by
Australia Post, which also produces stamps for the Australian Antarctic Territory,
Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Many other stamp related products
are produced in addition to stamps. Stamp Collecting Hint #2: Starting Out With
Stamps Most beginning stamp collectors want to get lots and lots of stamps. One of
the best ways to make a flying start is to buy a large packet of used stamps from
your post office or stamp dealer. Then you can have fun sorting them into countries
and themes and putting your favourites into your album. One of the best (and
cheapest) ways to build up your stamp collection is by asking your relatives and
friends to save the stamps from all their letters.
