The Tale of the Tonnika Twins

Part One : Tyfron Lightstar

*Note* Brea and Senni Tonnika are the two females seen in the Tatooine cantina scene near the start of Star Wars: A New Hope. (Although, according to Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, the Tonnika Twins in ANH were actually imposters.)

“Lian, in reference to our last conversation. I have accepted the date you requested for our meeting. I had hoped to talk to you now, but I can see that you are not available at this time. If need be, you can reach me before the meeting date. I look forward to doing business with you, Lian, as it is always a pleasure to see your lovely face. Warmest regards, Tyfron Lighstar.”

Tyfron smiled confidently at the screen, before reaching forward and ending the transmission. It was true, he had hoped to talk to her, but instead had to settle with leaving her a holomessage. And it was also true that he looked forward to doing business with her. A victory in the office, and in bed, was something that Tyfron always looked forward to, especially with someone as beautiful as Lian.

Tyfron pictured Lian’s shy, smiling face in his mind. Yes, he thought, it would be a pleasure to see her lovely face again.

But there were other matters to attend to at the present time. Quickly, Tyfron checked his appearance in the ‘fresher mirror and proceeded to his waiting, chauffer-driven transport. It had cost him a fortune, but the Corellian Action IV Transport was the top of the range, and Tyfron didn’t settle for anything less.

Within minutes the transport vehicle had taken him to his favourite cafe, The Blue Twilight.

As usual, the Twilight was brimming with activity. Waiters and waitresses ran back and forth between the tables, bartenders served delicious looking drinks, and laughter and chatter echoed off the rounded ceiling. It was the most popular eatery on the spaceport moon, famed in the star system for its exquisite meals and also for its friendly atmosphere, which was a drastic contrast to the toughness of the spaceport’s other bars and cafes.

Walking straight past the long queue at the door, no one stopped Tyfron. He was quite well known, and could come and go at the Twilight whenever he felt like it. None of the waiters or waitresses bothered Tyfron while he made his way through the busy cafe, as they all knew where it was he was going.

As Tyfron approached his regular table, he saw that his personal assistant Thomro had already organised his ‘entertainment’ for the night. Sitting in the large booth, somewhat bewildered looking, sat a stunning brunette. She wore a shimmering, ethereal gown of silver, which was made from the purest form of hymus, an expensive fabric that was rare in the galaxy due to an almost extinction of the hymus worm. Smuggling of hymus was classed as highly illegal, but Tyfron knew from past experience that smugglers paid no attention to the law, especially when the law concerned one of the most profitable things to smuggle, hymus. Her almost black hair was fashioned into a mass of plaits and curls, making her a picture of beauty and elegance. Thomro had really outdone himself this time, and Tyfron made a mental note to congratulate him on an outstanding choice of entertainment.

Seating himself beside the beautiful girl, Tyfron smiled and introduced himself.

“Ahh...my name’s Guyrha, sir. I’m very pleased to meet you,” she stammered, obviously still in awe of the wealthy business man.

“Guyrha. A pretty name for an even prettier girl. And please, call me Tyfron. We can dispatch of the formalities now.”

All thoughts of Lian were now completely forgotten in Tyfron’s mind, as he leaned over seductively and whispered softly into Guyrha’s ear.

Guyrha’s eyes went wide for a moment, but then she giggled and took a nervous gulp of her intoxicant.

Tyfron leaned back against the smooth cushioned back of the cafe booth. Life was good, especially right now.

**********

Meanwhile, a pair of almost identical females, sat halfway across the Blue Twilight sipping their own beverages.

Brea Tonnika had been watching Tyfron Lighstar from the moment he had set foot in the Twilight. Only now did she mention him. “Look at that.”

Beside her, Senni Tonnika followed her cousin’s gaze, and nodded. “Attractive,” she murmured, noting Tyfron’s debonair good looks.

Brea snorted. “Who cares about attractive?! I can just smell the money.”

Senni gazed at Tyfron. It had been almost two years since she had last looked at a man and felt a certain kinship with him. The last time she had felt like that had been in the musty party room of Jabba the Hutt's palace on Tatooine, when the now well known smuggler Jyy Hin had been a boy on Tatooine. And now, once again, the feeling was back. It wasn’t just because the man was good looking, but also because she felt that familiar stirring sensation within her. That sensation, she knew, was caused by the Force.

Senni had known that she possessed the Force for some time, but had never actually told anyone, not even Brea, her own cousin.

Cousin, she thought. Brea was her cousin, but to add to their charm, Brea and Senni had agreed to pose as sisters.

“Tyfron Lightstar,” Brea announced, reading off her data pad and interrupting Senni’s thoughts. “Owner of the biggest and most influential import/export business on the spaceport moon, Nallandra, not to mention the owner of quite a few other companies here on Nallandra. Seems that he enjoys gambling, taking over small businesses ... and women.”

Senni sat for a while, pondering what their next move would be. Senni was the brains of the con team. She planned the scams well, and it usually was her who did the dirty work, while Brea would be the one acting out the scam. Of course, Brea was no dim-witted Gamorrean either. Both cousins were very intelligent and Brea recalled fondly how she had spent her young years hoping to become a surgeon, something she could have achieved quite easily.

Finally, after a few minutes, Senni came to a resolution.

“I think I have it, Brea,” Senni announced. “And I also think that this con will be the most profitable one we’ve ever done.”

To be continued . . .
