Santa Rosa

A few blocks down Calle Central on the border line between Old Pascua and Barrio Adelanto, stands Santa Rosa de Lima Church. From its beginning in 1935 it has been a mission of Holy Family Parish. This Church, together with its hall and grounds, provides the Yaqui and Mexican population with a center for instruction and celebration.

Santa Rosa (1586-1617) the patroness of this Church, was a contemporary of San Martin de Porres in Peru and was the first American to be canonized a saint by the Catholic Church.

"By the help of her prayers may we imitate her selfless way of life on earth and enjoy the fullness of God's blessings in heaven." (Opening prayer, Mass of St. Rose)
