Dixie Humphreys
OUTSTANDING DIVISION GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR 1999-2000

Dixie Humphreys first experience with Toastmasters occurred when a request of the Maricopa County Cooperative Extension that Toastmasters be used as a training organization for the Master Gardener Speakers program prompted her to start  Down To Earth Toastmasters. The club chartered March 7, 1997.

As a new Toastmaster, a new member, and President of a newly Chartered Club Dixie had to learn Toastmasters in a hurry --- which she did.

Since then, Dixie has earned her CTM, and ATMB-CL. She has been President of her club for two terms, and the club achieved Distinguished recognition each time.

As Cholla Area C5 Governor her Area earned Presidents Distinguished Area, and as Cholla Division Governor her Division earned Presidents Distinguished Division.

Dixie is currently holding the position of District Secretary.  Her father was a Toastmaster for over 30 years and was District Governor of District 44 in Texas at one time.

She is known as The Bulb Lady in the Master Gardener arena and is frequently called upon to give gardening speeches about bulbs, to clubs, organizations, and Conferences.  Dixie loves to attend TLI, any conference, and any other training sessions whether it is for Toastmasters or Master Gardeners.

"I like to learn something new every day," says Dixie.
