The Tactician Deck - Final Chapter
by Jesse Butler

Welcome again samurai.  We have created a Dynasty deck in the last articles and are now going to create a Fate deck that is equaly powerfull.  First there are cards that go without saying that make all tacticians great.  For starters there is Focus, followed by the basic Superior Tactics.  Then you'll need Rallying Cry, next is the
Counter Attack (which I must say is quite a great card in its own, even if the opponent Rallying Crys themself).  Then the Sneak attacks, only two for this deck.  I will now list some of the cards to best pick from that mostly target our tacticians.

-Tactical Maneuvers, actions, U, Ambition's Debt
Cost: 0, Focus: 4
Reaction: Immediately after the last Maneuvers segment of this Attack Phase, move one or more of your Personalities with the Tactician trait from one Province to another. This is not a use of the Tactician trait.
Yakamo stood in the last sunset, his jade hand streaming with light. "Follow me," he cried, "and we shall conquer the Darkness forever!"

-Avoid Fate, actions, R, Imperial
Cost: 0, Focus: 3
Reaction: Play during the Events Phase in response to an Event. This Event does not occur now. The Event is replaced with the next card in that player's Dynasty Deck, face down. Shuffle the Event back into the Dynasty Deck.
COMMENT:Great focus, nice ability for those nasty events.

-The Sun in Shadow, actions, U, Ambition's Debt
Cost: 0, Focus: 4
Reaction: When a Kiho is being cast, cancel it.
COMMENT:GREAT focus and nice side ability, Always can be ditched to the Caravans or for tactician..

-Bandit Attack, actions, C, Honor Bound
Cost: 0, Focus: 3
Limited: Target and destroy any one Merchant Caravan in play. You may also target and destroy any one other non-Fortification Holding or Region controlled by the Merchant Caravan's player.
"They say that bandits plague the lands of the Unicorn, but these were not
simple ronin. They were searching for something." --Otaku Tetsuko
COMMENTS:This card is useful in the right envirnment but only if the people you play with have Caravans.  This is one of the risks of having Caravans that I told you about.

A Test of Courage, actions, C, Time of the Void
Cost: 0, Focus: 2
Reaction: When one of your Personalities has been targeted by an action that would remove them from this battle, play this card to cancel the action. You may not bow this Personality to produce actions or target this Personality with actions for the remainder of the turn.

White Shore Plain
Cost:0, Focus: 3
Battle Terrain:  Each Tactician who has not used the Tactician trait for this battle gains Force equal to his or her Chi.
COMMENT:This is one of the cool cards that came out of F&S and kicks butt.  But
don't really run three less you got MANY Tacticians.

The Sun Return
Cost: 0, Focus: 3
Reaction: Play this card immediately after an opposing player takes an action during battle.  Bow one of your Tacticians in the battle to cancel the action.
COMMENT:This card is the GREATEST, now the tacticians have a little denial.  You
must play three of this one to just give you the edge.

Great, now that I have laid out the best choices that are possible to pick from, let us start chosing from them.  If you have better choices than what I have said then by all means sub any card you feel will strengthen your deck.  But to pick the Fate we must count the basics: 3 Superior Tactics, 3 Rallying Crys, 3 Counterattack, 3 Focus.  That makes 12 Fate cards so far.  Lets put in 3 Tactical Manuevers, great card.  2 Sneaks, not much for going first with this deck, no deadly grounds, low focus I say.  3 Test of Courage. 2 White Shore Plain. Because we have high PH for our personalities we can risk a low focus, so lets pop in 3 Strength of Purity. 3 Avoid Fates, and....... 3 The Sun Returns.  That makes 31 fate cards.  Nice number really, lots of high focus values I must say.  Now for the followers, and them we'll take a look at  items.

-Elite Light Infantry, followers, C, Time of the Void
Force: 2, Chi: 0 RH: 2, Cost: 3, PH: -, Focus 3
This Follower contributes its Force Total to its army's total during the resolution phase of battle.

-Matsu House Guard, followers, U, Shadowlands
Force: 3, Chi: 0 RH: 2, Cost: 6, PH: -, Focus 4
Unique
Can only be attached to a Lion Clan Personality.
The Matsu House Guard gain +2F when attacking.

-Gohei's Daisho, items, R, Honor Bound
Force: +2, Chi: +1 Cost: 5, Focus: 2
Weapon*Unique
Reaction: As this Personality is assigned to or moved into a battle, bow Gohei's Daisho. Draw one Fate card and add it to your hand.
Al Hazaad smiled. "His bravery will be remembered. He died with much honor." The
lie was barely noticeable, and after all, it was what the Lion wished to hear.

-Ancestral Sword of the Lion Clan, items, CL, Imperial
Force: 0, Chi: +1 Cost: 9, Focus: 4
Weapon*Unique
Gain 4 Honor. When controlled by a Lion Clan Personality, Sword gains a 1F/1C bonus for every Lion Clan personality you control. Any other Lion Clan players lose 6 Honor when this item is brought into play.

-Shiryo no Gohei
Force: 0, Chi: +1, Cost: 0, Focus: 3
Lion Clan Ancestor*Unique*
Shiryo no Gohei counts as Matsu Gohei for uniqueness.  Shiryo no Gohei's Personality Gains +2F when attacking.
His spear cut through the Senpet General with the roar of a thousand winds. "Here is your 'butcher,' gaijin,"  He snarled, then turned to fight by Ketsui's side.

Any deck for tacticians would not be complete without the Lion Sword. Throw in Gohei's Daisho for cards that will be gained and lost for the tacticians.  Next, place three Elite Light Infantry in (because it has a better focus then regular light).  Better pop in one Matsu House Guard as well. Two more huh.  Why not the new Gohei ancestor and Don't forget the Ring of Void. That makes the deck complete. Here is a run down on the deck thus far.  Just for those that dont have the Yoritomo Sensei, ditch the dojos for Large Farms.
