INTRODUCTION:

A.      BACKGROUND: ELIJAH'S RETREAT FROM JEZEBEL.

B.      GOD CALLED HIM FROM HIS CAVE TO A MISSION( vs. 15:16 ).

C.      WE ARE GIVEN A MISSION TOWARD THE GOSPEL.

I.      WHAT IS OUR MISSION TOWARD THE GOSPEL?

A.      BELIEVE IT( Rom. 1 :16-17;  Mark 16:16 ).

B.      OBEY( Heb. 5:9 ).

          1.       Faith only won't save( James 2:24 ).

          2.       If we don't obey( 2 Thess. 1:7-8 ).

C.      ABIDE IN IT( John 8:31 ).

D.      ALLOW IT TO ABIDE IN US( 1 John 2:24-25 ).

E.      GROW IN IT( 1 Pet. 2:1-2;  2 Pet. 3:18 ).

F.      TEACH IT TO OTHERS( Heb. 5:12 ).

          1.       By preaching( Rom. 10:13-15 ).

          2.       By example( Matt. 5:16 ).

G.      DEFEND IT( Jude 3; Acts 20:29-31;  2 Tim. 4:2-4 ).

II.     WE ARE NOT TO BE DISCOURAGED( vs. 18; 2 Tim. 1:12 ).

III.    THE GOSPEL WE ARE TO DEFEND:

A.      BELIEVE IN JESUS( John 20:30-31 ).

B.      REPENT OF OUR SINS( Acts 17:30 ).

C.      CONFESS OUR FAITH IN JESUS( Rom. 10:8-10 ).

D.      BE BAPTIZED( Acts 2:3822:16 ).

E.      A NEW LIFE( Rom. 6:4;  2 Cor. 5:17 ).

CONCLUSIONTHE QUESTION IS NATURAL.
