          2.       Often, ignorance is self-imposed (vs. 3;  Rom. 1:19, 21-22, 28).

C.      IT WAS THIS REBELLION THAT CRUCIFIED JESUS (Acts 4:25-28).

          1.       Early Christians were encouraged by this Psalm (Acts 4:29-31).

          2.       Being on God’s side means being hated (John 15:18-20;  2 Tim. 3:12).

          3.       We have nothing to fear (1 John 4:4).

II.     GOD’S REACTION TO REBELLION (vs. 4-6).

A.      GOD IS NOT INTIMIDATED OR MOVED TO ALTER HIS PLANS.

B.      GOD DECLARES HIS WILL ACCOMPLISHED – HIS KING RULES (vs. 6).

C.      GOD USES MAN’S REBELLION (Acts 2:22-24,  34-36).

E.      MAN CANNOT THWART THE PURPOSE OF GOD (Rom. 3:4;  11:34-35).

III.    THE SON’S RESPONSE (vs. 7-9).

A.      JEHOVAN SAID … (vs. 7).

          1.       Does not refer to the Birth of Jesus (Matt. 1:20).

          2.       Does not imply that Jesus is created (John 1:1).

          3.       Fulfilled in the resurrection (Acts 13:30-32;  Rom. 1:4).

          4.       Connected with his Sonship in Hebrews (Heb. 1:5 è2 Sam. 7:14).

          5.       And his priesthood (Heb. 5:5-6 è Psa. 110:4).

B.      REFERS TO JESUS’ ELEVATION AT THE RESURRECTION (vs. 8-9).

          1.       Declared to be to Son in the resurrection (Rom. 1:4).

          2.       Glorified (John 17:4-5;  Acts 2:32-33).

          3.       Given power (Eph. 1:20-23).

          4.       No one exempt (Phil. 2:9-11).

C.      THOSE WHO RESIST WILL BE UTTERLY DESTROYED (vs. 9;  2 Thess. 1:7-9).

IV.   THE PSALMIST’S REPROOF (vs. 10-12).

A.      THE FOOLISH CONTINUE TO OPPOSE – THE WISE MAN BUILDS (Matt. 7:24-25).

B.      vs. 11FEAR (1 Pet. 1:17) and REJOICE (1 Pet. 1:18-19;  Acts 8:39).

C.      vs. 12.  MAN’S ONLY HOPE – ACKNOWLEDGE THE SON (Acts 2:36;  John 14:6).

CONCLUSION:

A.      THE PSALM BEGINS WITH DEFIANT CHALLENGE TO THOSE WHO REJECT.

B.      IT ENDS WITH A PROMISE (vs. 12b).
