The Eternal God
A. BELIEF IN GOD IS THE PRIMARY FOUNDATION OF OUR FAITH.
B. Heb. 11:6. WE SHOULD SEEK TO KNOW GOD AS HE REVEALS HIMSELF.
1. The Scriptures are our source of information.
2. They reveal His nature, power and wisdom.
C. WE WILL STUDY GOD AS THE BIBLE REVEALS HIM.
A. THE CHILD'S QUESTION "WHO MADE GOD?" IS NATURAL AND PROPER.
B. John 5:26. GOD IS INDEPENDENT OF OUTSIDE SOURCES FOR LIFE AND
EXISTENCE( Psa. 50:12 ).
C. GOD IS THE SOURCE OF ALL THAT LIVES( Acts 17:24-25; Rom. 11:36 )
A. NO BEGINNING OR END( Rev. 1:8; Ex. 3:14 ).
B. DIFFICULT CONCEPT FOR US.
1. We are limited by time.
2. No so with God( 2 Pet. 3:8 ).
C. SCRIPTURES OFTEN DESCRIBE GOD AS ETERNAL
( Deut. 33:27; Psa. 9:7; 90:1-2 ).
A. OMNIPRESENT(1 Kings 8:27; Psa. 139:7-10; Prov. 15:3; Jer. 23:23-24 )
B. OMNISCIENT.
1. God neither learns nor forgets - knows all.
2. Psa. 139:1-2; Dan. 2:20-22.
3. Because he knows all, he is all-wise(Rom. 11:33; 1 Cor. 1:20).
C. OMNIPOTENT( Job 36:5; 42:2; Psa. 147:5; Jer. 32:17: Dan. 4:35 ).
E. INFINITE IN HIS LOVE( 1 John 4:8, 9-10; Eph. 3:17-19 ).
F. INFINITE IN RIGHTEOUSNESS( Deut. 32:4; Psa. 89:14; Hos. 14:l9 ).
A. SINCE GOD IS INFINITE IN POWER, NO MAN CAN CHANGE HIM.
B. SINCE HE IS OMNISCIENT, HE MAKES NO ERRORS THAT NEED
CORRECTION.
C. THE CLAIM OF THE SCRIPTURES( Num. 23:19; Psa. 33:11; Mal. 3:6 ).
1. He has changed his mind( Gen. 6:6 ).
2. He has changed the way he communicates with man( Heb. 1:1-2 )
3. But his character and nature never change.
A. WE NEED TO TURN OUR GAZE INWARD & LOOK AT MAN( Psa. 144:3 ).
1. Man is but a speck, a vapor.
2. Yet God loves and cares for man.
B. DOESN'T IT MAKE SENSE THAT WE LOVE GOD, TOO( 1 John 2:5 ).
