Coming and Going
A. AM I COMING OR GOING? INVITED TO DO BOTH.
1. Come learn of me (Matt. 11:28-30).
2. Go and teach (KJV) ó make disciples (Matt. 28:19-20).
B. JESUS WANTS US COMING AND GOING. LET’S LOOK FURTHER.
What do we learn?
A. OF HIS UNIVERSAL INTEREST IN MANKIND (2 Pet. 3:9; 1 Tim. 2:3-4).
1. The invitation is to all (Matt. 11:28; Rev. 22:17).
2. The regular folks were glad to hear (Mark 12:37; Luke 15:1-2).
3. No respecter of persons (Acts 10:34; Rom. 2:11).
B. OF MAN’S UNIVERSAL NEED (Rom. 3:23; 6:23).
C. OF HIS SACRIFICE TO MEET MAN’S NEED (Heb. 2:9).
1. What did that accomplish? (2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Pet. 2:24).
2. Why was that necessary? (Rom. 3:24-26). To satisfy Justice.
3. Eph. 1:7. Our sins can now be forgiven.
4. Christ’s motive and purpose (1 John 3:16; Luke19:10).
D. HE IS THE ONLY ANSWER TO MAN’S NEED (John 1:18; 14:6; Acts 4:12).
E. WE LEARN THE VALUE OF THE SOUL.
1. The value of our own soul (Matt. 16:25-26).
2. The value of our neighbor’s soul (Matt. 22:39; 2 Cor. 5:11).
3. OUR NEIGHBOR MAY BE LOST. HE NEEDS TO COME AND LEARN, TOO!
Romans 10:13-15
A. THREE COMMANDS GIVEN THE APOSTLES WHEN SENT OUT:
1. Lift up your eyes and look (John 4:35).
a. Can’t we see what he saw? (Matt. 9:36).
b. Who would you not rescue from a burning building?
2. Pray for laborers (Matt. 9:37-38).
a. Where will we find the laborers if we are earnest?
b. Pray for wisdom (Jas. 1:5), boldness (Eph. 6:19), opportunity (Col. 4:2-3).
c. Trust God for good results (Phil. 2:13; 4:13; 1 Cor. 3:6).
3. The Great Commission – Go! (Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16).
a. Remember (Rom. 10:14-15).
b. Paul brings the rest of us in (2 Tim. 2:2; 1 Thess. 1:8).
B. THERE IS AN URGENCY!
1. John 4:35; 9:4. Is the night upon us?
2. You are a link in a chain from God to the rest of men.
Don’t break the chain.
A. (Matt. 11:28-30) JESUS INVITES US TO COME AND LEARN.
1. He offers rest from the burdens of life.
2. From the burden of sin.
B. HIS YOKE IS EASY AND HIS BURDEN IS LIGHT.
