INTRODUCTION:

A.      GOD’S INFINITE NATURE IS BEYOND US.

B.      ILLUSTRATED IN GOD’S CREATION OF THE UNIVERSE (Job 38:4-7).

          1.  There are 50 thousand million galaxies, 50 thousand million to 100 thousand million in

                   each one.  1022 total stars in the universe, more than grains of sand on earth. (?)

          2.  Milky Way’s diameter is 50,000 light years across.

          3.  Earth travels thru space @62,500 MPH or 1,500,000 miles in a day.

          4.  At 1,000,000 MPH it would take 14.3 minutes to get to the moon, 2 days to Mars,

                   5 months to Pluto, 2880 years to Proxima Centauri, 20 million years to the

                   Milky Way Center.

          5.  If earth were 1 inch in diameter, the sun would be 110 inches in diameter, and the

                   relative distance between the two would be 11,772.15 inches or 981 feet.

C.      YET THE UNIVERSE IN LIMITED – GOD IS NOT! (1 Kings 8:27).

          1.  He made the universe (Isa. 40:2648:13).

          2.  He made and uphold the material creation (Heb. 11:31:3).

          3.  Genesis 1:1.  NO ACCIDENTS (Psa 147:5).

D.      GOD MADE MAN, TOO (Gen. 2:7).

          1.  Man is small and finite.

          2.  Man needs to consider this and his relation to God who will judge him (Psa. 144:3-4).

I.      THE TENDERNESS, LOVE, AND PROVISION OF GOD

        (Psa 147:3-6).

A.      THE PSALMISTS PURPOSE IS NOT JUST TO TELL US HOW POWERFUL GOD IS,

          BUT THAT WE MIGHT KNOW THAT HE HAS POWER AND UNDERSTANDING

          TO NUMBER AND NAME US, AND TO MINISTER TO OUR NEEDS.

B.      YOU ARE NOT LOST TO GOD, HE KNOWS YOU BY NAME.

          1.  Jesus tells us to pray, but … (Matt. 6:8, 25-32).

          2.  When bad things happen … (Matt. 10:28-31).

          3.  David knew the blessing of God’s presence (Psa. 139:7-10).

          4.  Paul would have us know it, too (Phil. 4:4-7).

C.      THE EXALTED PLACE OF GOD’S WEAKEST CREATURE (Psa. 8:3-6).

II.     THE SIGNIFICANCE OF MAN (Psa. 144:3-4).

A.      A SPECK OF DUST? (Gen. 2:7).

B.      MORE THAN THAT.

          1.  In God’s image (Gen. 1:26).

          2.  To have dominion (Gen. 1:26-28).

          3.  To have fellowship (Gen. 2:15-173:8-9).

          4.  To glorify God thru service (Ecc. 12:13-14).

C.      MAN FALLS – HEARTS ARE BROKEN.

          1.  The heartbreak of misfortune (Job 2:10).

                   a.  We are here (Gen. 3:17-19;  Job 14:1).

                   b.  There are evil men about!

          2.  The tragedy of sin (Rom. 3:236:23).

D.      MAN REACTS TO MISFORTUNE (Job 2:10).

          1.  We must trust him (Job 13:15 – KJVPsa. 55:22)

          2.  Remember (Phil. 4:4-5Psa. 139:7-9).

E.      GOD REACTS TO SIN (John 3:16).

          1.  Reconciled in the blood of Jesus (2 Cor. 5:18-21)

          2.  Christ died for us (Rom. 5:8).

          3.  Forgiveness is conditioned on obedience (Heb. 5:8-9Rom. 6:17-18).
