FAIRFAX, Va., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Xybernaut Corporation (Nasdaq: XYBR), the leader in wearable computing solutions, today announced that it is developing a wearable PC to run on hydrogen fuel cells in a joint development effort with DCH Technology, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: DCHT) of Valencia California.

Fuel cells can potentially provide an unlimited supply of portable power and may be the perfect solution to the currently limited life for batteries used for portable electronics," stated, Edward G. Newman, president and CEO of Xybernaut. "With the successful development of fuel cells to power the Mobile Assistant, we believe we will be able to increase the current mobile operating time to 12-24 hours or more, and dramatically expand our market as a result. This combination of expanded battery life in conjunction with our patent portfolio of more than 450 patent applications awarded and pending will further position Xybernaut to maintain its leading role in the wearable computing industry. We are excited to be working with DCH Technology in this area to commercialize fuel-cells for future wearable products."

"This partnering of wearable computers and fuel cells is the next logical step in the evolution of existing power source technology for portable devices," stated David Haberman, chairman of DCH Technology." As computers become more powerful and their applications and use in the field more widespread, the need to constantly monitor and replace multiple battery packs will become an avoidable and unnecessary inconvenience. Current computing technology has greatly exceeded the capabilities of the most advanced battery technologies, but a fuel cell will continue to supply electricity as long as the user supplies it hydrogen. Additionally, fuel cells are an environmental friendly and socially responsible development as there will be fewer dead batteries to worry about disposal problems. We see the wearable computing market as another example of an industry with a current and immediate need for improved power solutions, and we see a major opportunity for our fuel cells with the Xybernaut team."
