Positive
Thoughts on Poland
19 February, 2001
Being the staunch supporter of Poland I
am, I decided to respond to an Anti-Poland post on a travel
bulletin board I participate in. Below is what I wrote.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As some posters on this branch may know, I am very Pro-Poland. I am an immigrant from the USA who lives here by choice and loves it. I've found the Polish people to be wonderful, hospitable and kind. I agree with the above posters who've implied that no matter what country you're in, you'll find bad people.
I've traveled around most of the country and never have a problem finding sights to see things to do, etc. I love to meet first time Poland visitors from Western Europe and the USA and hear their views on Poland. They are usually pleasantly surprised to find out that the stereotypes they had about Poland before visiting were incorrect and they love this great country. After all, isn't that what traveling is about? To open one's mind, experience the unknown and learn, as a person, not to believe stereotypes?
I realize that not everything is perfect here, but is there any country where everything is? If so, please let me know, as I'd love to live there.
A friend with whom I work is an immigrant from Western Europe. She loves Poland as much as I do. We've decided that whenever we get the chance, we will tell people how wonderful Poland really is (we're the self-proclaimed "Good Will Ambassadors Of Poland." There are a lot of people that post here who have visited Poland and love it. Perhaps we should start a campaign to let the rest of the world know. Or, maybe not. Perhaps we should keep this gem of a country all to ourselves.
