Does Magic Have Too Many Special Abilities?

I noticed how confusing Magic was getting when I read about the new abilities that Nemisis was introducing. Fading, that weird mercenary ability that MM brought, the reveal cards in UD, you know what I'm saying. Ok, maybe the reveal cards weren't that terrible, but you get the picture. I think it would be hard for a new player to remember all the rules. Echo, shadow, rampage, fading, that can even confuse hardcore players. I know that if they didn't introduce new abilities, the game would become boring. I think that a new ability should be released with every block instead of expansion. That or WOTC should make the new stuff better. I think Magic has been in a slump since UD came out. But hey, this is just my opinion, not yours. I'm just speaking my mind.
