Wishful Thinking... Countdowns

Wishful Thinking... The Countdown YOU want

People didn't quite get the idea of "rearranging" every Friday's actual countdown, but that's okay, 'cause we got a whole new section out of it. It's entertaining, it's fun, and it provides great insight into the minds of many TRL viewers (um, sure it does). No, really, they're worth it. Read and send me yours.

10 Limp Bizkit "Nookie"
This was the first rock-song I ever saw on TRL so I gotta put it at least at #10. Rating: 5.9
09 Destiny's Child "Say My Name"
Very catchy and I personally think it's their best song yet. Rating: 6.2
08 Sisqo "The Thong Song"
I loved this song. Notice that I put the d in bold. Now I think it's so crappy. But it still deserves to have a place on my top 10. Rating: 6.5
07 Blink-182 "All the Small Things"
Still a song that makes milk come of your nose. VERY funny and I give props for that. Problem was that the song was wayyyyyyy overplayed on the radio but this was the song that made me a Blink fan. Rating: 6.9
06 Eminem "The Real Slim Shady"
See #7. Rating: 7.7
05 Mariah Carey "Heartbreaker {The Original}"
Believe it or not, this was the first Mariah song I ever heard so that's one reason why I'm putting it this high. Another reason is because the fight in the video is hilarious. Rating: 7.3
04 ‘N Sync "Bye, Bye, Bye"
I needed a #4 song! Rating: 7.7
03 BSB "I Want It That Way"
Very original. Truly the best BSB song ever! Rating: 9.0
02 KoRn "Falling Away From Me"
Scares me a little bit still... Rating: 9.2
01 Britney Spears "Oops...I Did It Again"
LOVE THIS SONG!!! THIS VIDEO IS MAKES NO SENSE BUT I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10 Christina Aguilera- "Genie In A Bottle"
This video is OK. I don't really like it but I am trying to limit this to two people, Britney and Christina since they are my favorite artists
09 Britney Spears- "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart"
This had to be the most boring song of all by Britney.
08 Britney Spears- "Sometimes"
I wonder how much money they spent on the viewfinder binoculars that she used? LOL
07 Britney Spears- "Lucky"
It's funny if you put all of Britney's video's together, the one that got #1 the most was the one that would get the lowest of the 7 (or 8 if you include Born to Make You Happy)
06 Britney Spears- "Born to Make You Happy"
The video was cool and the song is awesome. The fast songs are just better.
05 Christina Aguilera- "Come On Over Baby"
This song is cool, the Gap Commercial deal was kind of cool. I stopped to watch this on Disney the other day and they bleeped out Sexuality. I was pissed. They either bleeped it or my TV lost sound for a minute.
04 Britney Spears- "Baby One More Time"
This song was cool. I like the outfit (all three of them). This one would have done better if she hadn't used her cousin (or had actually liked her at the time)
03 Britney Spears- "(You Drive Me) Crazy"
The only problem I have with this one is that she didn't also do her original, she just did a Remix without doing an original first like most artists do.
02 Britney Spears- "Stronger"
If this wasn't the new one, it would have been #1, I've only had 5 days to look this video through for all the good stuff.
01 Britney Spears- "Oops!... I Did It Again"
#1 against Stronger because this one is older and had its time and Stronger hasn't, got #1 against "Bye Bye Bye" by 'N Sync, fell down the countdown for God knows what reason, and because the Red Catsuit puts her over the top!!!!!!

The perfect countdown for October
10 I Turn to You - Christina Aguilera
The video isn't great but the song is so powerful
09 Heartbreaker - Mariah Carey
I don't usually like Mariah, but I do in this case
08 I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing – Aerosmith
My favorite slow song
07 Crazy - Britney Spears
The songs okay, the video is awesome
06 The Hardest Part of Breaking Up - 2Gether
Funniest song ever!
05 I Think I'm in Love with You - Jessica Simpson
My reminder of my favorite summer ever - 2000!
04 Come on Over Baby - Christina Aguilera
The hottest video and best remix ever
03 Believe – Cher
An absolute dance song and Cher's best of 40 years
02 What A Girl Wants - Christina Aguilera
Christina will continue to appeal to me and this song & video never get old
01 Doesn't Really Matter - Janet Jackson
This song is so catchy and so fun, I absolutely could never put it below #1!

Here's my Top 10 for a Perfect Day of TRL: (I'm taking a little bit of the 80's, 90s, and 2000)
10 B-52's- Love Shack
When I was 4 years old, I remember when Stephanie from Full House danced to this song, and I always thought it was hilarious....so I'll put it at 10
09 Orgy- Blue Monday
This song is great! The video is great and I wish it would have gotten retired on TRL!
08 Mandy Moore- Candy
We got to have at least three hotties in the top ten and we'll start of with Mandy! She got a great voice, great looks, and is only a year older than me...
07 2Pac and Dr. Dre- California Love
This video premiered while I was at a party on New Year's Day.......I liked the whole "Mad Max" idea and thought this video was one of the best rap ones!
06 Offspring- Pretty Fly For A White Guy
The whole Spanish counting thing mesmerized me......And the whole gold-painted dancer thing was a good idea!
05 Fiona Apple- Criminal
I have no idea why I like this "weird" music video...but I just liked the song a lot! I liked how she sat in the tub with oranges and just laid all around the house wherever she felt like......And that soap bubble thing was pretty cool too!
04 Missy Elliot- Supa Dupa Fly
I really like this song and I like how she wears that big brown garbage bag.....But what does that have to do with "I can't stand the rain!"?
03 Limp Bizkit- Nookie
02 Britney Spears- Crazy
I like the song and video a lot, but no Britney or Melissa Joan Hart.........The video had some great dance moves, a good beat, ya know a typical good video (A-)
01 Christina Aguilera- Come On Over Baby
Let me tell you why this is #1: 1. Christina's hot, 2. She can dance and sing, 3. She looks good in whatever she wears. 4. She can rap. (the stair part) 5. Overall, she's hot, talented, and great! (A+++)

My faves change with the wind, this is my Wishful Thinking II. And I have a three way tie at No.1!
10 The Offspring "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)"
Oh my God this is so funny. Seriously.
09 2Gether "The Hardest Part Of Breaking Up"
Basically the same comment as above.
08 Mya & Blackstreet "Take Me There"
I really like this song. I don't know, I just needed something up here.
07 Toni Braxton "He Wasn't Man Enough"
This song is so catchy, I can't get it out of my head if I try.
06 De La Soul "Oooh"
Another hilarious video, theme is the Wizard Of Oz. The best line is when the witch is busting De La Soul's party and says to Dorothy "She better not be wearing my shoes".
05 Rage Against The Machine "Sleep Now In The Fire"
They can really make you think in their videos. Seriously, they are great.
04 Beastie Boys "Body Movin'"
"Let's see some more action from the back section!" I love this song, was looking forward to Rhyme And Reason with Rage (Until they cancelled it.)
03 Christina Aguilera "Come On Over"
I'm going to her concert on the 15th. I'm excited. And her performance at the VMA's was very good, especially the Fred Durst thing.
02 Brandy & Monica "The Boy Is Mine"
I remember this was the only song I played a few years back. I also love each of them as an individual singer.
01 Michael Jackson "Thriller"
So, it's old. I'll give you that. But it's so awesome. I am totally speechless by this video. The dancing and choreography is excellent, the theme is great, wow.
01 Madonna "Like A Prayer"
Also an awesome video, very powerful.
01 Korn "Freak On A Leash"
Show me one person who didn't like this. I'm waiting . . .

Submitted Sept 22/2000 by Katie:
I am sorry, but I am sick of all the videos that they played on the 500th episode on TRL, they over played them and I taped them all TOO much but, So here’s some different ones.
10 Christina Aguilera - Genie in A Bottle
I am sorry but I am sick of the song and the video. (well they DID play it like 68 times on the countdown, right?)
09 Mariah Carey - Heartbreaker
I liked the original until they started played that RETARDED remix. It was so boring I hated it.
08 Limp Bizkit - Faith
When I first saw the video, and heard the song, I really liked it. I thought the guy in the red hat was really cute too (Fred, hee hee). I used to turn the TV up loud when he screamed...
07 KoRn - Freak on a Leash
Ok, I know this was on the 500th episode, but I really liked the video and song. I would love them so play it cuz I like seriously never saw the whole video. They always stop it or used to stop it in the middle of when John Davis was makin those weird noises. I always wondered what the end of the video looked like lol.
06 Britney Spears - Baby One More Time
Yes another one from the 500th the episode, but this is when I liked HER not just her music, but her, because she was a schoolgirl type and and that was before she became a *cough, cough* slut. I think she looked pretty back then without her being blond, just her regular hair, (which I think was like brunette) and she wore REGULAR clothes like everyone else. After that, well...
05 The Offspring - Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)
I remember back then when I first started watching the show, I thought this video was so awesome and my friend loved it too. I think this should have won the other day for classic video instead of JUVENILE!
04 Five - When The Lights Go Out
Ok, I know this one didn't retire, but I wish they would show REAL classic videos like this one, (it was on the fall of 98) cuz this song made me listen to all of their music...whatever happened to those English lads anyways? Well, neways, I loved the show back then, no studio audience...N sync wasn't as popular...
03 N Sync - God Must have spent a little more time on You
Ya I know, but I liked this video for some reason and thought Justin looked cute in it (why doesn't he ever cut or die his hair anymore?) But it kinda pisses me off now that BSB always were the main boyband (they have been together for what, almost 10 years? Compared to N Sync, what, 4?) and now N Sync are always winning freakin everything. God, give someone else a chance! I put this video at 3 cuz I liked this group a lot better back then than now.
02 Eminem - My Name Is
Man, I wish it were the old days. As soon as I saw and heard the video I got attached to the song. I thought he was so hot too. That was when no one cared about him and no one knew his name except the REAL eminem fans (me and my friend, the people who kept him on the countdown, and people who kept up with EM!) but now what really annoys me is that everyone knows his name, everyone thinks he's hot and all that crap. I remember I had him on my binder in the fall and everyone didn't really care but then when "The Real Slim Shady" came out, everyone is like all of a sudden, OMG he is so hot! I love eminem I am going to marry him.. UGH!!!!!
01 Backstreet Boys - All I Have To Give
This video is number uno cuz this is the whole reason why I started watching TRL. CUZ OF BSB! My friend always told me when they were on and then I'd turn on the tv to watch them. They all look so good in this video too, Nick's old hair, Brian's old hair (it wasn't shaggy in back) and Kevin's old nice short hair...heehee.

Close Calls: Most Girls by Pink and The Burrito Song by Hoku
10 Genie in a Bottle (Remix) by Christina Aguilera (released in Asia and South America
This is better than the original, it was in a hotel and a bar, it was so cool!
09 So Real by Mandy Moore (released in Australia)
This video was in a secret garden and a castle, it was so hot!
08 "I Think I'm In Love With You" by Jessica Simpson
Reminds me of Malibu Beach in California
07 "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart" by Britney Spears
I love the part where she is playing football
06 "Oops! I Did It Again" by Britney Spears
A catsuit very nice.
05 Sometimes by Britney Spears
Another video shot on the beach only Blink-182’s make of it was more hilarious, unlike this awesome melody
04 Baby One More Time by Britney Spears
The video that started a fashion craze, knee high socks and boots with plaid skirts to Catholic School. How popular is that
03 "Lucky" by Britney Spears
I bet Britney Spears would lose to a fight with Lucky—just kiddin’ LOL
02 Crazy by Britney Spears
Dance girl, dance!
01 Born to Make You Happy by Britney Spears (released in Europe)
This should have been the single over here in America and "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart" should have been the one over in that other place. ‘Cause this is the best Britney Spears song ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Close Calls: Big Tymers "#1 Stunna" -- The Big Tymers with their second single has come out blazing on the jams countdown and it is my close call today
Wyclef Jean f/The Rock "It Doesn’t Matter" -- Pretty cool song but The Rock is looking kinda stupid in it but overall it has a pretty good beat
10 P.O.D. "Southtown"
This is a great song but is getting old! Now "Rock The Party" is doing it but I still gotta give this song props and put it at 10
09 Janet Jackson "Doesn’t Really Matter"
This song debuts on my weekly top 10 report and I really like this new song and think it has the potential of being great [[go to links to find a link to his site]]
08 Eminem "The Real Slim Shady"
Just like No Doubt this song 2 months ago used to be way up on my countdown but it also has slipped to 8
07 No Doubt "Simple Kind Of Life"
Used to be my favorite song 2 months ago but has slowly slipped down my ideal top 10 to #7. But is still a great song
06 Britney Spears "Lucky"
What a great song by Britney! She really did a great song and video for this one and look for it too do great everywhere
05 Korn "Somebody Someone"
They are the ones that started the return of the rock and they are keeping it alive but not doing as well on TRL as they should be!
04 Destiny's Child "Jumpin Jumpin"
Even through all the hard times they have gone through they can still come out with a hit song
03 Incubus "Stellar" Another great song that is finally getting the respect they deserve by being on TRL
02 Hanson "If Only"
The only boy band I like and I can’t believe I like them but something about their songs is just great
01 P.O.D. "Rock The Party"
This is a great song and really P.O.D. has finally got the respect that they rightfully deserve

02 "I Wanna Be With You" by Mandy Moore
Don't forget about Mandy Moore! Mandy deserves time on the countdown.
01 "I Think I'm In Love With You" by Jessica Simpson
Jessica Simpson can sing. She has to be in the top 5 at least.

Close calls: "I'm Outta Love" by Anastacia, "Absolutely (Story Of A Girl)" by Nine Days, "Sexual (Li Da Di)" by Amber – A chihuahua sings with her. Hehe!
10 "I Shall Be There" by B*Witched f/ Ladysmith Black Mambazo
I don't know why I am so attracted to this song & video, but I just am. It's a really beautiful song.
09 "Candy" by Mandy Moore
I like the car, even though it was towed by a truck for the filming, it's still pretty cool.
08 "If You Had My Love" by Jennifer Lopez
I like the whole idea of a web-cam. Wish it had retired!
07 "Doesn't Really Matter" by Janet Jackson
The tilting dance floor is just really neat. I like the dog too. I just wish I could understand what she's saying in the chorus. =)
06 "Do You Want My Love" Coco Lee
Okay, so maybe nobody's heard of her, but this video is just really cool, and so is the song.
05 "Riddle" by En Vogue
I like the evil band members. One breaks down a door, one smashes a car, and one throws oranges through a window. Okay, so maybe only the first two are evil.
04 "Californication" by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Wow. I am impressed. I never really liked them before this song. I think the underwater part w/ the sharks and the earthquake scenes are the best parts.
03 "All The Small Things" by Blink-182
I love them! They are my fave band and I saw them live too!
02 "He Wasn't Man Enough For Me" by Toni Braxton
This song is so catchy.
01 "Thriller" by Michael Jackson
Who can beat the master? This video is so cool, even though it's long. I like it when Michael turns into a werewolf. The zombies still kind of freak me out however. I know this is old, but it deserves to be on somebodies list. And the Vincent Price talking part at the end is awesome!

All right, I finally got around to making one for all the recent videos out there. Let me tell you, it was hard.

I like it! I finally like a Spears tune. However the hell that happened, I don't know.
09 "The Real Slim Shady" by Eminem
This is too strange to not put on my countdown. Besides, I need some variety.
08 "I Think I'm In Love With You" by Jessica Simpson
Old rock (opening from "Jack and Diane") and new pop combine in this one. And it's catchy. So it's here.
07 "Make Me Bad (Sickness in Salvation Remix)" by KoRn
I hate "Somebody Someone" but I love this one. Another thing that I'll never understand and I don't really want to, either.
06 "I Disappear" by Metallica
Napster haters, but this little number is pre-t-tay good.
05 "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down
What the hell is that video about? Who cares, it sounds good.
04 "Absolutely" by Nine Days
Absolutely one of the best new hits out there. It needs attention.
03 "Last Resort" by Papa Roach
If MTV didn't silence out every other word in the opening, it would be cooler. But the CD version is rockin'.
02 "Rock The Party" by P.O.D.
Best new song so far... awesome tone, and all of that crap. I love this one too.
01 "Adam's Song" by Blink-182

08 ''Back Here'' by BBMak
I need my daily dose of boybands.
07 ''The Real Slim Shady'' by Eminem
I don't like rap, but he's cute.
06 ''It's Gonna Be Me'' BY 'N SYNC
Oh no, I'm falling into the dark side.
05 ''Oops I Did it Again'' by Britney Spears
It's catchy.
04 ''I Wanna Be With You'' by Mandy Moore
It's never on the countdown, it deserves some time. She's just like Britney Spears, well voice wise.
03 ''If Only'' by Hanson
I PICKED THEM only because they at least play and write their own music.
02 ''I think I'm in Love With You'' By Jessica Simpson
At least she can sing.
01 ''The One'' by The Backstreet Boys
I'm nuts. I know everything about them. I LOVE THEM and I don't know why.

10 "What You Want" by DMX feat. Sisqo
One of my favorite songs on DMX's album, but the chorus line is kinda harsh to make it a single. And what is up with the Sisqo car thing?
09 "If Only" by Hanson
Ok, I don't like Hanson at all but I like this song, especially the "you and me and us and I" part. It's amazing how song this gets no airplay and no rotation on MTV but stays so high on TRL.
08 "Judith" by A Perfect Circle
This song is really cool and the lead singer(also the lead singer of Tool) has the most awesome voice, he can almost make any song sound good.
07 "I Think I'm In Love With You" by Jessica Simpson
Bigger voice than Britney, very cool personality, but not nearly as all around great as Britney. Ugly shirt...should've dressed more like her dancers.
06 "Back Here" by BBMak
I've liked this song for a while now. The video has some really lame parts though, like the "Back Here" book and the girl giving a picture thing, I don't get that part. What the hell are they gonna do with a picture, at least give them a number or something, sheesh.
05 "Last Resort" by Papa Roach
The bass line is the coolest. All that anger in one video. Amazing.
04 "The Real Slim Shady" by Eminem
This song is totally out of place in his album. This song is all kinda happy and catchy...The album itself is dark and angry. It's all kinda wrong how he can make such dark themes so funny. Disses the pop world in a humorous manner so the teeny boppers still like him.
03 "The One" by Backstreet Boys
Howie's improvised dance, swing the arm across the body and snap is too funny. There are so many good songs on the 2nd half of the "Millennium" album that they didnt release as a single, that's just wrong. I was really hoping for "Don't Wanna Lose You Now".
02 "It's Gonna Be Me" by *NSYNC
Like BSB better but I really like this song. "Dirty Pop," omg, that's too much. The part with the female dolls gotta go, doesn't fit at all, shouldve shown more dancing...which is really cool. "This I Promise You", the next single is also a song I really like.
01 "Oops!...I Did It Again" by Britney Spears
Okay, this wasn't a fair, Britney was gonna by my #1 no matter what. I'm not even gonna get into how obsessed I am, its just too sad really. The video itself is pretty corny and cheesy. I'm amazed by what Britney makes her dancers wear...they have to be worst dressed dancers. "Yeah, yes it is.", all that feeling, it's so good.
Note: Korn and Kid Rock and some of the other TRL regulars didnt make it my countdown because uh...can they make something that sounds original. I swear the past couple singles from Korn all pretty much sound the same.
