Seggal: First off, I'd say congratulations are in order in regards to your recent WCW signing.
Gorgeous George III: Thank you.
Seggal: Can we expect to see you on any TV programs?
Gorgeous George III: yes real soon with a whole new look
Seggal: Any chance of making a nitro?
Gorgeous George III: yes ..once i start it will be fulltime
Seggal: What was it liking wrestling the Memphis circuit?
Gorgeous George III: it was definatley a turning point in my career, before I came to memhis, the fans were used to seeing the usual brawl style match, But I not only provided them with a lot of pagentry, but also my scientifical technical style of wrestling. The fans really appreciated someone that had TRUE wrestling talent and skill. It was really starting to catch on. Especially the feud between myself , Tommy Rich, and Doug Gilbert against PG 13. had a few tag matches as well taging with Razor Ramon matches...and Mabel. even got me a tryout match with the WWF( tried out with Chris Benoit at the time).But I never really was given much promotional pull due to my different style of wrestling...But all in all, USWA was a real turning point in my career.
Seggal: Where have you been competing since USWA folded?
Gorgeous George III: well lets see: several indy promotions (Southern Championship Wrestling, All Star wrestling, ACCW, SECW,CPW(Kentucky), ..just to name a few, 2 tours ofWWC(Puerto Rico) AAA(Mexico) TCW (Texas) and now WCW
Seggal: Can you tell us how the whole deal with WCW transpired?
Gorgeous George III: well i have had quite a few meetings with WCW in the past...and in late 97 after my tour of AAA(mexico) I was contacted by WCW . One thing led to another and before the year was up, I signed with the company
Seggal: and you have already begun to wrestle for them?
Gorgeous George III: yes , but only in a few dark matches at the TV tapings...
Seggal: who have you faced?
Gorgeous George III: chavo guerrerro jr, lenny lane, lizmark jr, chris adams, to name a few
Seggal: What is your opinion of the opponents you have faced?
Gorgeous George III: all good atheletes with different styles.....but none have my flash and style. ......and my wrestling skills is far more superior
Seggal: so is Gorgeous George gonna wear a dress and makeup or is he gonna carry a tire "arn"?
Gorgeous George III: nah..lol......no copycat stuff here brotha, I coming in with a whole new look that is hip ,fresh , and full of style..and you know what? Im still young...lol
Seggal: Do you have an admiration for the orignal Gorgeous George?
Gorgeous George III: i can assure you there will be none like me nor will there ever be in this sport yes very much. like me he was a trendsetta at his time
Seggal: Why did you choose to take the name you compete under
Gorgeous George III: not to mimick him I assure you , but to be the style of today...
Seggal: Did you ever meet Gorgeous George Jr?
Gorgeous George III: cant say that i have
Seggal: I remember one of those PWI editors remarking that he didn't even know there was a Gorgeous George Jr till he saw Gorgeous George III, do you think you carry the legacy well?
Gorgeous George III: yes....lol
Seggal: Who do you wanna face in WCW?
Gorgeous George III: all of them..as far as im concerned they all are stealing my spotlight and i want all the gold......tired of these gloryhogs and wannabes hoggin all of MY spotlight.......doesnt matter if they are a crusierweight or heavyweight or a Yokozuna weight.....im getting slap happy on all of them....cause its my time to shine and do my thing.
Seggal: Is Gorgeous George the next world champion ;)
Gorgeous George III: lol....maybe not Gorgeous George....but the artist formely know as GGIII is destined for superstardom and beyond
Seggal: Did you make your deal through Eric Bishoff?
Gorgeous George III: the very top.
Seggal: What kind of a man is he
Gorgeous George III: he is a very smart and astute business man and even he knows the possibilities of the talent that i possess
Seggal: Is you could wrestle one wrestler past or presant who would it be
Gorgeous George III: thats hard..lol..there are several
Seggal: Who would those several be
Gorgeous George III: Rob Van Dam gave me some classic battles in the past. Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Ric Flair, Xpac, Chris Beniot, Ricky Steamboat, Randy Savage, just to name a few. But even with their skill, none compare to my new age superior skills
Seggal: Was the WWF's biggest mistake ever not picking up these superiour skills
Gorgeous George III: YES!......at the time they had the chance to get yours truly and Chris Beniot all at the same time. But at the time , missed out on both of our talents. Too bad, but nenevr say never in the wrestling business because you never know cause the cream always rises to the top
Seggal: You also train as well, who have you trained to wrestle
Gorgeous George III: lol.me trainer..lol....well if anything i advise and help give pointers to younger wrestlers,,,but you never know someday I may be a trainer. But I really havent Trained anybody to wrestle yet though
Seggal: What about Ragena Cage
Gorgeous George III: well I have been training with her kinda like boxers when they spare. Been helping her with conditioning, proper diet , and excercise. She is by far one of the next great female superstars in our sport!keep your eyes on that tough gal:-) (Editors Note: This interview took place before the sad passing of Ragena Cage) she is also being trained by some of the best female wrestlers in this sport as well
Seggal: Who do you see as (besides yourself) the future of wrestling
Gorgeous George III: Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Hardy Boys, Rocky Maivia,Kidman,Mysterio, Edge, Christian, and of course (drum roll please).................DA BOMB! The one and only...ME!:-)
Seggal: What kind of corprate champion would you make ?
Gorgeous George III: first of all I would be calling myself GOD..lol...second of all I would rant and rave about "rasslin tradition for grampas by da campfire"..PLEEZ..lol..and third of all I would strut my stuff, show off my artistic talents and thrill all of my people..I would be the hippest champion WCW has ever had....Im anything but boring.
Seggal: so do you have any respect for tradition
Gorgeous George III: duh! lol who dont...but I dont live in the past and and neither do the wrestling public...Lets face it 1999 is a world's difference from 1925...pleez....my Grandma used to date these guys...lol...Im THE trendsetta ! If anything Im making my own "tradition"..Heck, I wouldnt want my kids to be like me...lol....Times change and so should wrestling as well
