Seggal: What promotions have you worked for?
John Rambo: CWA(Memphis, with Lawler and Jerry Jarret), PNW(Pacific Northwest Wrestling-Portland Wrestling), overseas, CW-USA, NWA, ECCW, WXW, AWF, MECW, ...I can't remember them all...lol the CWA in 1988 was Champion Wrestling Alliance, run by Jerry Jarrett(Jeff's father), Eddie Marlin, and Jerry Lawler.
Seggal: Have you ever been approached by the big two?
John Rambo: Yes, my first time was in 1990.
Seggal: What made you decide against it?
John Rambo: Dick Woehrle, the former WWF referee lined me up with a try out in front of Gorilla Monsoon. I was only 1 years time in the business and knew I wasn't ready, business sense wise. I chose to go to Portland wrestling instead, which was a great TV territory. There I got to tag team with Scott Norton, Scotty the Body(Raven), and Steve Doll(Steve Dunn). I am glad I went there to gain the much needed experience.
Seggal: What do you think of the big feds today?
John Rambo: Too many little kids are watching inappropriate behavior. I would like to see wrestling return to "old school" wrestling. Leave the smut for the XXX shops.
Seggal: How many other times were you offered spots on their rosters?
John Rambo: WCW, WWF, and WCW don't operate too much like the people think. All the new talent you see that signs with them are individuals that are out there really busting their tails to get the BIG leagues to recognize them. They send tapes and make phone calls galore looking for those spots. They arent "offered" too often. They offer deals to wrestlers already established in these big leagues. Right now in my career I do not have the time to "hussle" for my own personal success. I am working on getting the NWL at the level I want it at. Then "John Rambo" will chase his "personal" goals. the PWI 500 list is, well let me just say...VERY off the wall with there rating system...LOL...I mean come on, look at some of the GREAT talent not even listed. Then look at some of these guys in the 100's. Too funny, but it sells issues.
Seggal: Who do you see as the great talent not listed
John Rambo: right off the top of my head...Samu his brother and cousin L.A. Smooth and Matty Smalls there's 3 men that would terrorize any league and win titles now matter where they work
Seggal: What do you think about the big heads the top stars get
John Rambo: I don't worry too much about others or their problems. I have too many of my own.
Seggal: Should wrestlers have a good relationship with fans?
John Rambo: I believe when the "show" isn't in progress, wrestlers should be people and fans just the same. I encourage my students to be all around decent people to everyone.
