Uncle Bill's 5th Annual Iron Butt Run
While this was the 5th annual it was my 3rd consecutive trip on this ride. I saw quite a few familar faces along with a few new ones.
We all met at Bill's on Saturday morning Oct 13th. From there we headed out to the Superstition Freeway 25+ Bikes plus a trike and a couple of 4 wheelers following up. We stopped just out in Apache Junction to pick up a couple more people then back on 60 headed to Globe.
Globe was our lunch stop and Judy's Cookhouse had good food and service as usual. After a nice leisurely lunch we headed out for the Salt River Canyon. While the whole ride has some great scenery riding through the Salt River Canyon is really fun. The Curves the Scenery this is what riding is about. We made a short rest stop at the bottom of the canyon then proceeded up the other side.
We took the long way in to Show Low by taking 73 through the Indian Reservation through Whiteriver and hooking up with 260 out by the Hon Dah Casino. We eventually arrived at the Days Inn in Show Low around 4pm. After getting our rooms some headed out for supper and some for nightly entertainment.
While I personally missed out on the midnight entertainment by the pool it could be heard by all. For some reason some people seemed to be holding their heads the next morning. ;^)
Sunday morning we headed out towards Payson and points beyond. Unfortunately in Payson a couple of us got seperated from the main group due to construction in front of the Famous Sams we were to stop at..
Well per the plan we headed out to Camp Verde then up to Jerome for the end of the ride..
Another great ride with fantastic weather. Who Could Ask For More.
A big Thanks to Bill and Nancy Harris for putting this together year after year.
