I LIVED IN WEST BERLIN FROM 1977-1981.  DESPITE THE CHANGES IN THE POLITICAL CLIMATES ALONG THE WAY, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A SOFT SPOT IN MY HEART FOR THE CITY AND THE PEOPLE.  WHAT THEY ENDURED FROM THE PRESSURES OF COMMUNISM AND HOW A VAST MAJORITY OF THEM ALWAYS BELIEVED IN US WILL ALWAYS STAY WITH ME.  FOR THE FOLKS WHO ONLY KNOW OF IT FROM MAGAZINES AND TELEVISION, I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT YOU HAVE NO IDEA OF WHAT IT WAS LIKE THERE AND I HOPE THAT NO PEOPLE EVER HAVE TO GO THROUGH SOMETHING LIKE THAT EVER AGAIN.  I'VE ASSEMBLED A FEW PICTURES TO SHOW THE HORROR AND GRAYNESS OF LIFE THERE:  A CITY AND PEOPLE ACTUALLY PHYSICALLY DIVIDED.  I WISH ALL THE CITIZENS OF BERLIN HAPPINESS AND ALL THE BEST.
