In this second series of bar pictures, I've tried to make sure that all of them connect together into one long timeline a bit better than I did in the first series. When I was recently going through my collection of them, I noticed that the one which connected onto the 1655-80 picture was from the first series, which connected onto other ones from the first series. Oops. (I have NO idea how I messed up like that).
I had to do one that bridged the gap between that one and the 1690-1710 one, so the fashions had to be dated mostly from the 1680's.

The further back in time you go, the longer it takes for fashions to change over time. It's also much harder to find examples to work from that are in a narrow time frame, so to fill in this relatively narrow gap in time, I had to include some costumes dated from the 1670's and some from the 1690's (the former located mostly on the left side of the page, the latter on the right). They're generally all the same anyway, so it's all pretty much historically accurate. I also love drawing costumes from the baroque period, they're so ornate and detailed, especially men's.
Most of the fashions in this picture are English, however I included some fashions from Dutch paintings in the left foreground. They changed very little over the previous decades and were still about the same well into the 1690's. One interesting change in costumes at this time is mens' hats. Most of them were the flat, wide-brimmed, black hats worn mostly by the Dutch. Around the 80's, they started to turn up one side a little, then two and three sides, then by the end of the 90's most men were wearing the tri-cornered hats.
That's me in the right foreground and as with previous pictures, the placement of the sword is very intentional.
The bowl by the bird says "Pyne nuttes". I figured they wouldn't have peanuts at that time but might have pine nuts, and I also figured they'd spell it in some old English way like that.
The guys eating the chicken wings in the right foreground are based on a photograph a friend gave me. That's a cup of blue cheese dressing and celery sticks in front of them. To the left of them is a drunk guy admiring the women. Above him is his sister admiring a guy.
