The 1970's

This one was a few inches wider than the other ones because I couldn't find the right sized canvas. After I got this one, I found that the stores stopped carrying them, so from now on, I'm going to have to start making them myself (a big pain in the ass but it saves a ton of money. You wouldn't believe how much they're asking for canvases).

Although this one was slightly larger than the other ones, I finished it in roughly 4 months (as opposed to 5 or 6 months it usually takes me). This is mostly because I had more time during my summer break to work on it.

As with all of them, it progresses from early in the period to later. In this case, 1970 on the left to 1979 on the right. That's me in the foreground from a picture taken around 1975.

The bird I always include in my paintings is a macrame' owl in the background by the disco ball. I love how the "wild and crazy guys" came out above KISS and to the right of them, the girl's Farrah-doo came out great. (Her face came out beautifully too, but you can't tell from this picture).

I used a picture of Sammy from "Days of Our Lives" for the girl crying in the middle-ground. (There was a time when she cried at least once an episode).

Since I like that show so much, I've decided to put at least one character from it in each of my subsequent paintings.(I already put Stefano, Bo and Hope in previous ones).

Other than the costumes, I put a lot of little details of things that were popular in the 70's. Look through it and see if you can spot them.
