Our Club Newsletter -
Its Value & Application
By Gloria Diaz, CTM/CL, 1999-2001 Newsletter Editor, The Express, and current President, State Expressions TM.

"To me, the club newsletter serves several purposes, all of them very important.

First of all, a club newsletter should serve to inform.  The Express does this by publicizing events at the club, district and area levels.  The Expressions Worth Remembering column includes reminders of upcoming contests, special meetings, or other activities important to members.

Secondly, the club newsletter is a means of providing recognition for members and club supporters.  The Express includes a regular feature, titled, Expressions of Thanks and Pride.  Here, we thank guests who have visited the club and recognize the achievements of our members, both great and small, and, we thank our benefactors.

The club newsletter also serves as a means of education.  One of the newest features of The Express is Test Your Knowledge, a short quiz, consisting of 3 or 4 questions.  It's fun and informative.

Lastly, the club newsletter serves to entertain.  The Express regularly includes samples of some of the more memorable quotes articulated by our members. These are often inspirational and thought-provoking as well as entertaining.

I believe that our club newsletter has accomplished all of these purposes.  More importantly, I think it has served to strengthen our identity as a club.  I tried to make The Express a professional looking publication containing relevant information.

I believe that the newsletter in conjunction with all of our other efforts has helped to establish a fun and relaxing club environment that is also professional and encourages the growth of our members."
