I was born on a beautiful morning in the fall of October 6, 1981, near the East shores of Maryland.
I had an older sister at the time, but about a year later when my family moved to the dry deserts of Tucson, AZ my baby brother was born. Therefore, making me the middle child. Growing up I didn't get as much attention as my siblings, but it wasn't such a bad thing... I learned to become more independent and strong-minded. I grew up being really close to my brother-- though we did fight a lot.
Living in Arizona for 15 years, I was immune to the environment--the hot weather and the people. Most of my girlfriends were Hispanic, so I started dressing and talking like a "Chola"... they just grew on me, I guess. I had a good childhood and my parents pretty much let me do anything. I don't think I ever went down the wrong path... I wasn't into gangs, drugs, smoking or alcohol, although, I did skip class more than a few times-but hey, who didn't?
My parents had opened the very first Vietnamese video store in Tucson, AZ... soon after they expanded into an oriental food store, a restaurant, a jewelry store, and a coffee shop. I spent most of my time after school at the coffee shop and usually wouldn't get home till 2 in the morning. I liked to play with the boys (my brother and cousins) we'd play ball, climb trees, play with dirt, and got many scars and bruises. At school, I probably was't the most popular girl in school, but I had a good amount of friends-- i basically hung out with diferent groupies.
My brother and I had the weirdest pets--our first pet was a duck which we called Ducky (how ironic). After Ducky passed away, we hatched a few more ducklings, but they didn't last. We even went to the
pet store and bought 2 chickens, which we adored and kept for a long time. Overall, I believe we had way over a dozen chickens! Strangely enough I didn't live on a farm. Well, finally my mom brought home a dog for us, which we called Doggy! hehe j/k. Actually my mom named her Lucky, in hope that bringing a dog into our home will bring us good fortune. We all grew into dog-lovers soon after. =) Lucky had 2 buddles of puppies years after living with us, we were fortunate enough to find each of them a good home-- except for two, which we kept. We named them Lucy and Sugar.
In my freshman year in high school I grew more into dresses and girlie clothes. When I switched schools I suddenly became popular and went out with one of the most popular guys in school. All the girls thought we were "such a cute couple". Most of my friends were guys-- we even had our own little street hockey team outside of school. Everyday we'd gather in an elementary school parking lot and play until sunset.
In 1997 we moved to Sunny California, right in the middle of the Vietnamese community. I had a lot of problems making friends for the first year. I went to an alternative school for 3 years, which made it even harder. I graduated with the class of 2000, but didn't attend college till almost 2 years after. I pretty much worked through and after high school. From waitressing and cashier-- to sales rep and office clerk, I was a working girl. When I'm not working, like any other girl, I like to go shopping! Not to mention clubbing, working out, and trying out varities of food. I love Thai, Italian, & Japanese food! Oh, and I love love love the Korean soft tofu soups! *Yummy* And hit up all the good Bubble Tea places around. I also like to try out
snowboarding, and let skiing. Though, I rarely have time for that now, I tend to hit the gym once in a while with my friends or myself.
A few years after living in Cali, I met a dream guy who's soon to be my soul mate. We went out for almost 3 years. He was my first real relationship and my first lover. Like all couples we had our ups and downs, but we've survived for quite a long time. Until I had to move back to Arizona with my family-- everything went downhill from there.
So as for now, I'm living the single life-- clubbing, drinking, partying, and waiting to see what the future has in store for me.
After living in California for so long, being in Arizona again is just horrible-- the dryness, the wind, the dirt, the hot weather day after day. But once in a while I'd go back to California with my brother, and one day (sooner or later) I'll be back there again! =)
