.There was a misprint in the most recent Metrotimes advertising the October 16th show as Factory 81's CD release party. However, the show is this is My Favorite Plaid Straight Jacket's CD release party.

.This statement concerning factory 81's progress on their new album was released on factory81.net:

"We have just finished work on all drum and bass tracks for the new album and guitar tracking will begin shortly. So far everything sounds great and we hope to have the entire album complete by this winter. We've yet to determine how many songs will end up on the final product, but we expect 12 and possibly more. Check back for further updates on the studio progress as well as some video clips from inside the recording process. Thanks again for being patient, we promise it will be worth the wait."

8:32pm - album

.Factory 81 will begin preproduction on their new album this month. They will be doing this independently, and though it maybe more difficult to distribute the music, the band feels that maintaining their true sound is more important than having the support of a label. Both Bill and Kevin released statements on factory81.net concering their current progress on their upcoming record and their thoughts of producing the album independently.

.Bill update, "After almost two years of uncertainty and political obstacles, Factory 81 have secured plans to start recording our second album this August and hope to release it by the end of the year. We've spent the last few months searching for the right record label to release the music that is honest and uncompromising to us. It was then that we decided that the best way to accomplish that would be to release it ourselves, independently and free of the major record label terms. Although it might be more difficult for us to distribute this new music world wide, we feel that it's much more important for us to record and release this album the way we intended. Most importantly, we want to thank all of the fans that have stuck with us throughout this lengthy process. We feel that we owe you an album that is representative of our growth and without the persuasion of major label interests. With your help and support we can continue to keep this music where it belongs........."

.Kevin's message board post,"True. We are planning on recording/producing/and releasing this new album on our own. And, on our own terms. We've been writing new material for the past year and a half, and it's about time we did something with it. YOU DESERVE IT!!! We are going to be spending the next 2 months (or so) in pre-production, recording and mixing. We hope to have the new album out by the end of the year. Last Friday, we announced this, and everyone went nuts. This is a great sign. You haven't forgotten about us, and we sure as hell haven't forgotten about our fans. We promise to deliver you a completely kickass album. Some of you have heard a chunk of the record at our past/recent live shows. These songs are some of the best material we've ever written. We have around 20 something songs so far, and we can't wait to start recording.

We know you're anxious, and so are we.

This album will be the hand across the mouth of the music industry.

Thank You...Kevin"

9:05pm - side project, album, assholes

.Kevin and Andy's untitled "side project" is running smoothly. So far Kevin and Andy have managed to produced a total of three songs.

.An offical statement concerning f81's upcoming album was released Friday night at the Star Bar. The band is looking to release the album sometime in December, sooner if they can manage it. Upon the completion of the album F81 hope to do several CD release parties in the Midwest, including Detroit, Milwaukee, and Chicago, and perhaps New York as well.

.During F81's practice for the previous Star Bar show their trailer was stolen. Unfortunately it contained nearly all of the band's merchandise and the large factory 81 banner. However, luckily the band had just removed all their equipment from the trailer.

10:27pm - side project

.If you have been hearing "rumors" about Kevin and Andy working on a side project...they are true. All though the project is currently untitled, Kevin describes it as, "a bizzar mix of System of a Down meets Queens of the Stone Age meets Tool (of course) meets Acid Bath." However, don't worry Kevin's comment proceeding the one stated spoke of his loyalty to F81, "Factory 81 is of course our main focus, so don't get any false ideas on this. We take serious focus with F81, and look forward to releasing the new record by the end of the year."

5:47pm - tour, false rumor

.Another tour date was added for Allentown, PA. For more information click here.

.If you are a member of the official f81 message board, you may have heard that f81 was kicked out of The Rave in Milwaukee, WI. However, I assure you this is not true. I think some of the confusion was created by Bill's comments on the way to talk to the manager. However, I was there until the band left and Bill never mentioned anything about getting the boot. On top of that, I emailed the Rave just to be extra sure, and they said that nothing like that ever happened.

.The following message is from Factory 81 to all their fans:

"Factory 81 would like to announce that we have officially joined Jive/Zomba Records. This change has taken place due to the recent purchase of Mojo Records on the behalf of Jive/Zomba music group. Unforunately we have been stuck in a situation out of our control for about the last six months with very little distribution, marketing, and tour support. However, we continued to work hard and tour the U.S. in support of "Mankind." The constant support of our fans across the country have made this effort more than worth while. Recently we have been working on new material for our next album and plan on entering the studio sometime this winter to record with an early 2002 release expected. We are very excited abiout working with our new label which will bring more opportunities for Factory 81. Most importantly we would like to thank our fans for being extremely patient and supportive during this process. We look forward to seeing all of you on the road soon"
