The Backstreet Boys launched their first major US tour a week ago and Yahoo!Chat is gonna be catching up with them all summer long live from their tour with FIVE cyberchats! Howie D: Yeah,actually I did. A couple of them actually. Over in Europe we did a couple, for MTV we did a couple cyberchats. Lots of fun!

Howie D: Its going great, we've done about 8 cities already, about 8 shows, actually our 8th show is today. We've had a lot of fun. We had a rough start, but everything's starting to smooth out. We're having a great tour here

Howie D: We have Aaron Carter, a group from Denmark called Soap and the English artist Jimmy Ray.

Howie D: Aw, it's not annoying what guy wouldn't want to have a group of screaming girls around him. It's cool. Its an adrenalin rush.
Bella711 asks: when you aren't busy with your music...what do you all like to do in your spare time?
Howie D: I like to go out to clubs, hang with the guys, go to movies, enjoy life, do the normal everyday stuff that I would do back home. Hang with my family.

Howie D: We're not trying to have power, we're just trying to.. there's not girl power or boy power here, we're just trying to have fun and live life positively.
Nick_Carters_Girlie asks: What is it like to be on tour without seeing your family and all your friends???
Howie D: it gets lonely at times, that's why we like to bring out our families every once in a while.. In America I have family all over the place, so I'm not too lonely. I think everywhere, except for today, I've had family .. so it's lots of fun.
WHACKOFREAK asks: Where did you get the idea for the video "Everybody"?
Howie D: We just came together and said that not everybody's done another video like Thriller from the 80s and we just wanted to do a 90s version. We had a great director who helped us develop our vision even further.

Howie D: Besides my older sister PollyAnna, I'd say certain artists such as Bobby Brown, Jon Secada, Phillip Bailey, groups like Boys2Men, New Edition, ColorMeBadd.

Howie D: Hmmm... Jon Secada :D I like the Spanish/English thing and also BoysIIMen would be cool.. Babyface...

Howie D: Every once in a while when the situation is available or it's okay security wise.. It's as crowded as it is so we usually have to get out pretty quickly, so we don't have people back there normally.

Howie D: its definitely increased my popularity and my famiy's popularity. I have a lot more people who know me know than before and my family. It's changed the amount of time I could spend with family and friends. My lifestyles changed a lot, but they're always there for me.
Chick_cool asks: if you weren't a backstreet boy right now what would you be doing?
Howie D: I'd probably be definitely doing something in the entertainment field.. whether in acting or singing.. acting for movies or tv shows.. or becoming a solo artist or something.

Howie D: There were a couple who stowed away on our bus one time.. . we were over in Europe at the time... we didn't know it for a while then had to pull over to a rest stop and drop them off.. We had a few come over from Europe and bring me Gummi Bear cakes... b/c I said I liked them in a magazine one time.. That was pretty crazy.

Howie D: A lot more material co-written by us and co-produced by us.

Howie D: My favorite songs are "All I have to give", "BackStreet's Back" and "Get Down"

Howie D: No, never! No, we're really cool with each other, we're like a family.

Howie D: Nope, not yet. I don't really believe in them too too much, but I'm open minded in them for the future, if I saw a cool design...

Howie D: Well, there's been talk about it, but we haven't really decided on doing one yet, because our music career's really taking off now, and we're really concentrating on that... But maybe in the future

Howie D: I am the Peace Maker! I am the one. I am the chosen one. They say, I don't try to be the peace maker, I just try to keep harmony in the group, make peace and love.

Howie D: Hopefully going very strong with BSB and us still at the top of the charts If not, involved in the entertainment field in some way or another

Howie D: I think our music is definitely going to grow with our fans...As music changes, our styles might change a little bit but not too drastic, Hopefully we'll get a little R&B but we won't stray away from our pop roots

Howie D: Sure sometimes when you're in your room and you're all alone and there's not much going on, but I try to make things happen

Howie D: We all have our moments, but the guys would probably say me. That's just when I'm uncomfortable and I dont know people that well.

Howie D: Every once in while when we're doing a big show, or when I know there's somebody in the audience that I know like a family member.

Howie D: We don't really consider ourselves sex symbols, but we just go out there and try to put on an entertaining show...and if people think of us like that, as long as they respect our music first, we're cool with that. It doesn't really bother us.

Howie D: I guess just be real with me, show me that she cares for me as a person and not just as a BSB and also be very supportive of my career and my lifestyle.

Howie D: Getting a chance to travel around the world, see different countries and meet people every day, and make people happy with our music

Howie D: I sometimes have to take a step back and look at all our accomplishments and sometimes I don't really realize it until I tell other people them, how successful we really are. And I thank God everyday for the opportunity

Howie D: Be persistent and be sincere about your craft. Don't give up and shoot always for the stars and don't settle for nothing less.

The Backstreet Boys are playing Houston tonight and they are tuning up. What is everyone's favorite BSB song? I'm sure A.J. would love to know. A.J.: What's up to all our friends and fans in the chatroom right now with me! Thanks for all of your support and we appreciate it, I mean it. Please ask me anything you want, and I do mean anything! And also sorry for being late guys!

A.J.: So far so good. We've been on tour now for about three weeks. A lot of sold out shows so far. We are in Houston right now and we have a sold out show here tonight. I think our most prestigious show so far has been Radio City in New York. It has been a phenomenal tour so far. This is our first arena tour. We've been selling out, and it's been great. Perfect.
Sweet_girl_for_u99 asks: A.J. i love your tattoos. Do they have any meanings to them?
A.J.: Let's see. Currently I have five of them. They all have a meaning to me. I'm not quite done with them yet. The one on my left forearm is a comedy mask which represents comedy and tragedy because I grew up doing theater which is my first love. Right above that is the statement "Laugh Now". Right above that on my left shoulder is my name written in tribal. On my back left shoulder is a dragon, since I was born in the year of the dragon. On my right shoulder is my nickname written in a cross. We have a show coming up in LA on the 8th, and I want to get a panda bear on my right forearm. Reason being is because in my eyes it combines a non-racist image, black and white together, in a uniform symbol. That's all I have so far!

A.J.: Actually I do. I really do. I've met someone who, it's like, you meet them and you have that connection and that vive. There is a strong possibility of that. It's all about the chemistry. I believe.
RokPower asks: What do you order at McDonalds?
A.J.: I order a double quarter pounder with cheese value meal. Number four usually. With a large coke, no ice, and a large fries.
HereTitlePlace asks: What's the best thing about being a Backstreet Boy?
A.J.: I would say the best thing about being a BSB is the opportunity at hand. The opportunity to travel the world. Meet the people we've met. Just do the things we've all dreamed of doing since we were young toddlers. There are so many things that are positive about being where we are. Some of the down sides are being away from family, not getting home cooked meals, stuff like that.
Millaco asks: When you first started out did you think you would become this successful?
A.J.: You are always hopeful. But you never know. There's not much that you really know. It's just something you can hope for and you give it your best shot. You just have a strong belief that if you do what you've been blessed with to do, and if the fans respond well, then yeah, it can blossom into something great. And so far, it's been great!

A.J.: Some. Not as many as I'd like to be.

A.J.: Ummm, probably, live, "Hey Mr. DJ" and "That's The Way I Like It". Because they're the most hype songs.

A.J.: Either Celine Dion or Mariah Carey. My second choice would probably be Aliyah.
Go_Backstreet asks: AJ, When and why did you first start wearing your trademark goggles and glasses?
A.J.: Since 1993. It was just something that I wore in our first video that we ever recorded for "We Got It Going On". Our stylist said pop these sunglasses on. Our management said why don't you keep on wearing them, different styles, etc. It then just became my trademark, and now I don't really go anywhere without them. Sometimes I even sleep in them.

A.J.: I don't know. It's kind of , it's definitely flattering, but it's a little weird. I don't really understand why yet. I wish for five minutes I could get inside a fan's head to see what causes that hysteria or that obsession, you know?

A.J.: Phantom of the Opera. Has to be my favorite. And it's the only show on Broadway that I've never seen. I'd love to see it.

A.J.: Dancing. Or acting. I don't really know anything else. This is my life. This is all I know basically.

A.J.: Probably Freaky Spice.

A.J.: Sometimes I get postcards or other things. But not a whole lot of souvenirs really. Howie gets more souvenirs than me.

A.J.: I have so many! I love cartoons. I can't even think off the top of my head that I like the most. Now I'm into Ren and Stimpy, and all the really gross, nasty, freaky stuff.

A.J.: Nick does. I know Howie does. Some of our band members do. I just got my lap top. I haven't actually gotten connected yet. I haven't logged on yet. I've done it at other people's houses and at my mom's place. It's so funny, cause when you do it, you spend an hour and a half proving it's you. And these girls ask really complicated questions. And then some of these girls, won't give me their phone numbers and sometimes they do. And I'll sometimes sing onto their answering machines.

A.J.: My mom, and then secondly my career, meaning my life. My family, my grandparents, and then my career.

A.J.: Where? You have to be more specific. I've kissed many fans on the cheek and in passing, but I've never kissed, kissed a fan.

A.J.: Probably a cross between Brian and Nick. Their whole personalities, the things they say and the things they do. Kevin being the most serious because he's the oldest. Howie being the mediator, and me being a complete lunatic basically.

A.J.: Hmmm. Eric Benet. Maxwell. Brian McKnight. Jamiroquai. Prodigy. And BSB! Groups and people like that.

A.J.: I'm not. I'm pretty sure Kevin isn't. He's 27 years old. Myself, Kevin, Howie and Brian are not. I'm pretty sure Nick is not, but you never know.
Jeynne asks: Why do you change your hair style so often?
A.J.: You know I don't know myself. I have to change constantly. I don't like staying the same. Just when people get used to me one way, I have to change to get the m interested in what I'm going to do next. Right now it's bright red. Who know's what it'll be on the next tour. Probably orange or blue.
Luvbsb11 asks: What is the next music video you are going to shoot??
A.J.: We just finished shooting "I'll Never Break Your Heart" in Los Angeles. That's going to be the next video. Actually I just found out this morning that it got added to MTV in full rotation. We recorded it with a director named Billy Woodruff. He's done groups like Next, Chico Debarge. He's done incredible work, and he made our video look kick-butt.

A.J.: We're looking at releasing the album March-ish. We'll be in the studio for about two months after the tour recording. And there will be stuff hopefully written and produced by us on there.
Jennesa asks: who were your musical idols
A.J.: Gee, like Jodeci, Boyz to Men, Shy, all your doo-wop harmony groups. Individually we have a large variety, but group-wise those are the groups.

A.J.: Pretty stressful. Pretty hectic today. We have a day off in Kansas City in two days. I'm trying to arrange a trip to NY for that day. And then we do a lot of press. We just did a shoot for US magazine. We have a meet and greet to do today. And then we have a four hour bus ride after the show today to Dallas.
Hitz584 asks: If you could have a date with any famous person in the world who would it be?
A.J.: Right now it would probably be either Jennifer Love Hewitt, or Aliyah. There's one more, but I don't know her name, maybe you can help me out. The girl that was the bad guy's girlfriend in the movie Face Off. She is absolutely gorgeous.
Bbfrack asks: who is the most romantic of the group and why?
A.J.: I think, geez, probably myself, I've been told. Just because I don't do big, huge glorious things for a girl right off the bat. I like to do the simple things. Like if a girl likes Reeces peanut butter cups, I leave it with her at work, with a note saying I love You. Another girl I'd like to date, but she's busy right now is Gwen Stefani (lead singer of No Doubt).
DEV_LUV_BROK asks: who is the biggest slacker of the 5 of ya'll?
A.J.: Slacker? Don't know if you'd call it slacker, but the most late, last person downstairs or something, would probably be Howie or Kevin. I'm always first. Always. I might look like hell, but I'm always there first.

A.J.: Yes I can. I cook Italian, Mexican. I can cook a little bit of Chinese, but not a whole lot. I haven't gotten my wok yet. I need to get one to make my stirfry at home.

A.J.: Hmmm. It kind of varies weekly or daily. But maybe Howie, I've known him the longest, for ten years.

A.J.: Ahh, really, ummm, neither right this minute! Cause it's so damn hot over here. But generally, boxers.

A.J.: I do. I've been writing since I was about ten. And I still write on occasion now which is how I get the inspirations for the songs I write.

A.J.: Now, my favorite place has been Radio City because it's probably the most prestigious place we've performed. It's also been the smallest and most intimate, but also the most prestigious. Just being there you can feel the presence of all the other artists that have been their, the Rat Pack, the singers, all the award shows that have been there.
PinayFSA asks: How did you guys like VJing for a day on MTV?
A.J.: Pretty cool. Since I've watched MTV since I was a kid, I've always wanted to be a VJ, not permanently, but a guest appearance every so often. I'm just a ham, I love being on camera somehow. I'm just a ham!
I_LOVE_MRCool asks: What do you think is your best body part,A.J. and why?
A.J.: Hmmm. LOL! A dangerous question. I've been told my eyes. And I've been told by many fans, "Dammit would you take off your glasses so we can see your eyes!" I have long eyelashes, which are a little feminine for me, but people like them. I would cut them off, but if it works....

A.J.: I'm considering going back to it. I went to red, but I'm considering going back to it, maybe, over the next couple of days. Maybe, maybe not!

A.J.: Heck yeah! Definitely. But I want to be a bad guy. Everyone likes the good guy, that's a given. But everyone likes the bad guy if he's a good actor!

A.J.: I think a little more R&B. A little more adult. A little bit more adult comtemporary. Stuff like that. Basically a growth period for us.

A.J.: Time. Basically not having enough time to do much. And not having much of a personal life any more. Just talked to my roommate last night. She said there's girls coming to the house every day now. Everyone in the community knows it's me. You don't even have privacy at your own home. It's kind of weird. But I love the attention, I really do.

A.J.: I hate people who are liars, that's the first thing. People that can't look you in the eye when they talk to you drive me nuts. Or people that are figidty drive me nuts. People that sit there and start tapping on a table with a pen, that drives me crazy.

A.J.: I did. I had two dogs, one being a tea cup chihuahua, and the other one a German Shepard. The chihuahua died five days after I got it. And then I gave the Shepard back to the family I got it from because I didn't have time to take care of it.
Ga_Bu_Powa asks: If you had three wishes, what would you wish for?
A.J.: Longevity and success, that's one. To be able to take care of my family for the rest of my life. So they were comfortable and set. And to be happily married with a family and to be a wonderful father some day.

ChatYahoo_Lisa: Last night the BSB boys were in Yahoo!'s home town of San Francisco and so we went with A.J., Kevin and Howie to Phantom of the Opera. A.J. told us in his last chat that he had never seen it. I hear that everyone had a terrific time! We also saw their concert in San Francisco---they ROCKED!

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Nick: Of course I do. I think it was a definite sacrifice to make in order to do this...But at the same time I wouldn't give this up for the world, but again as I've said there are things I wish I could've done.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I would play some Nintendo! No... I would call anybody everybody I knew...I would just try to have a whole day with everybody I knew so I could see them one last time.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I would have to sing, it's a church song I used to sing with my great grandfather who passed away. It would be Amazing Grace. I used to sing it with my great grandfather. He used to play the organ in church and I used to sing when I went over to his house while he played.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Well, you must be talking recently...but I didn't cut my hair, well I did, I had to trim it down because it was getting way too long.. in the Teen People issue people were saying how it was way too long and I was getting kind of tired of that. Plus, summertime came around and it was getting way too hot.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I don't have a favorite Spice Girl, simple as that :) They were cool enough for what they are, but I never really got into them all that much.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I'm never really home that much .. I'm always touring and I really don't have a chance to relax chill and do nothing. Recently I did, but we're always touring.. so really being home and seeing all my family and friends.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I dont know.. Austrlia was really nice. Spain was really nice.. Pretty much just places that have been on the beach. I like the ocean, so that's probably why I really like those places so much.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I think a girl should, in general what I look for is somebody who can handle the pressures and things that I do. A lot of the reasons we don't have girlfriends is because of all the pressures we undertake.. I mean you have to be attracted to a person, but you can put a not so good looking girl next to a gorgeous girl and if the not so good looking girl has a better personality, then you'll go that way. Some people will say "yeah right"

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I'd like to hope that I haven't changed. If any one tells me that I have, I try to fix it. I want to stay the same. I don't consider myself any better than anyone out there and just want to continue doing what I'm doing and enjoying what I'm doing.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I would have to have the ability to clean up the ocean. To help the world in some way.. if that question was asked to somebody they'd say I'd love to have super jumping powers, I'd like to give back to the world, and if I can't do that I'd want to do something else for it.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: My new puppy.. I actually had two pugs and their names are Mikey and Willie and got a new one named Houston, because I got her in Houston. I sent her home from the road, because she was a real small puppy and it wasn't good for her out there.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: My biggest fear in life would have to be... well I really can't stand sharks although I'm fascinated by them. Well not that I can't stand them, but my fear is being in the water and being attacked by them. But I'd really have to say flying, I hate flying...if there's an opportunity to take a bus or fly, I'd rather take a bus. I don't want to step on a plane where you don't have control...

But my most prized possession would be my family.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Hmmmm...I've probably worn out some Journey CDs like crazy.. I played Raised on Radio forever...Also I played out -- not a lot of people like it, but the Hammer album .. The Funky Headhunter album.. I played it so much I ruined that CD...then I bought another one and lost that one...and lost another one, so I've contributed to the Hammer foundation :-) I used to play it when I played video games a lot.. but that's me, I'm a weird person ;-)

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Can be hectic, very claustrophobic, can be fun at times when you can play video games in the back. That's the best.. I love playing video games.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Probably BackStreet's Back.. although it was really long.. it took 3 days -- day and night we were working...it was hectic but it was fun.. I mean when you saw the final cut.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Craziest rumor... Well... I can name a series of rumors.. I would like to start off with everyone thinking I was gay. I'm not gay. Also that I was leaving the group.. I'm not. I heard another one that I was kicked off the tour on the way to the show -- don't know how that could happen.. That's a couple of them.

And I like the Oakland Athletics.. and I'm rooting for McGuire. And, also I've been looking for a green Oakland A's batting practice jersey for years!

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I think it's a music of different types of music. It's a mixture of R&B, pop and dance music. There are a lot of people out there who like variety. There's even a bit of a rock edge on the allbum.. I like Metallica, Nirvana, I like Snoop, R Kelly -- all different types of music, Journey.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: We dont know yet. We pretty much don't have a next video yet.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Well.. there was one show where I ripped the back of my pants out...and we had ducked down, done a move or something, it felt like it ripped, but I was like "maybe not"... but then I felt this breeze coming up from somewhere and I put my hand back there and I could actually touch my whole butt! That was pretty bad.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Cheese, lots of cheese, tons of cheese. I'll never forget, we were up in Canada somewhere and me and Brian were up watching a Dodgers game or something and the pizza we ordered had cheese and inch thick! It was gooey and cheesy! And then Piazza hit a homer to win the game -- it was pretty cool. And at that time we were calling Mike Piazza "pizza face" because of his name.

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: There is type A, type B, Type C. Type A would be a normal tour day -- you sleep from 11 at night, you just did a show, and then you sleep all the way until noon, 2 or 3. You wake up, pack and get on the bus and travel to the venue, then you do it all again. Then there's type B, a promotional tour which is hell on earth -- well it can be fun too...but you're traveling all different places and working all hours of the day doing photo shoots, television shoots... etc. Then there's type C: The day off. Which you just gotta love! :)

Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I can cook. I can cook seafood -- I love seafood. I also can cook Campbell's -- it's a great helper when it comes to cooking. Put it in the pot and it's done... You'd think I was a chef --Chef Boyardee!

We're gettign ready to do our show for 22, 000 people tonight in an outdoor stadium, and I want to apologize to you guys for being late, but this is the first time we're at an outdoor gig... Hmmm...I think I'd like to come back as an eagle or hawk..something that can fly...a nice bird...a red tailed hawk or american eagle, something like that.. if you're gonna be a bird, you have to be the king of all birds. Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I dont feel any different. it's not what I thought it would be, growing up you know? It's a lot of work, definitely a lot of fun. People give you a lot of things -- clothes so you'll be seen in their clothes.. food products sometimes you dont have to stand in line at clubs. That's a good thing sometimes. You can also use your celebrity to do good stuff, like we're going to do stuff with the American Cancer society, so we'll be doing stuff with that.. One of the first ones I saw were the bootlegged ones where they're cussing really bad, but it made me laugh so hard. I think the one where Santa Claus and Jesus were fighting. You know I think that if we as a nation look at our President to be a moral leader and obviously he's messed up, but if we're just looking for him to lead us and do foreign relations and a lot of stuff, then he's doing an okay job.. I don't look into politics all that much, but if you look back into history, Henry the 8th had all his wives killed because he didn't want a divorce. Marie Antionette was beheaded.. all that stuff's been going on for years and years. . in royalty and government. I don't get too personal with it, but the president is just there to be there.. he doesn't have any power, there are other powers that be that run the nation. I'm a real heavy sleeper I guess, cuz I'm used to being out here and sleeping anywhere. All of us are pretty much like that, sitting down on a plane is like naptime for us... laydown, listen to music chill out, just rest. I'm just used to being around loudness -- sound checks, fans, hotels.. so that once I get to sleep it's kinda hard to get me up. When Me and Brian shared an apartment, he would have to come in the room and turn the alarm off and that's when I woke up, when the alarm went off -- "Huh, what happened to the alarm?" vervation98: What's your favorite group other then yourselves? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Let's see... I gotta a pretty wide range of music that I listen to. I like Depeche Mode, used to like Guns N Roses -- the need to come out with another album--the Eagles, Boyz2Men. I like Maxwell. I like Refugee All Stars, Fugees, WyClef, all those guys, Busta Rhymes. Let's see...Mariah, Erykah Badu. I used to love Van Halen back in the day, but now I'm not really into them. That's pretty much a wide range of music, I'm into all kinds of stuff. RANSOMTL: What is your favorite song? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Right now I'd say that new song Alliyah has out. It's on the Doctor Doolittle soundtrack, the video's hot! bsbnuts: Is there a message that BSB would like to get across to people through their music? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Not really. We're not trying to make a statement with our music. We're just trying to make good music that makes people want to sing along, forget their problems for a minute.. moves them, makes them want to dance. With our ballads...I like ballads, I think ballads are good, I'm kind of a romantic, so I like ballads and with ballads we're just tyring to put people in a romantic mood. stephanieT85: I heard you modeled for Versace, is that true? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Yeah. The 5 of us were invited to fashion week in Milan by Donatella Versace, because when we were in Monte Carlo for the fashion awards, she hooked us up with outfits for the awards and we sent her a thank you for it...so we went to Milan and at the first show we watched and then at dinner that night, some of her business associates asked me if I'd model in the next show. And I said sure... ChatYahoo_Lisa: Did you like what you wore? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I like the shirt I had on, but the pants were a little too tight for my taste. It was cool. I got to hang out iwth Naomi, Whitney and Donatella. Some of our people were laughing, Puffy's rappin about wearing Versace and we're at his house! We had dinner at Gianni's. I like to watch old movies sometimes and when I look back, I don't think she was the hottest woman in history, but she's one of the most wonderful actresses in history -- Katharine Hepburn. I think Nicole Kidman is really sexy. I think Liv Tyler is a really naturally beautiful girl and just from interviews and things she seems like a beautiful person in the inside as well. We're not doing a movie. We've had several offers, but we're just focusing on our music right now. And we're not breaking up either.. it's been going all around the world that we're breaking up... Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: One of my favorite was the one that said I had a 2 million dollar movie deal, I'm still waiting for the paper work on that thing. It was almost kind of disappointing when it didn't happen ;-) Let's see.. I was told we died in a plane crash... There's been so many... Brian was gonna die.. Brian's my cousin and he was in heart surgery and we were all on the edge, even though technology is incredible now, we were very scared... so stuff like that. nixgrrl: Kevin....what is your favorite flavor of ice cream? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Wow.. that's a good question! That's hard. Since my father is no longer here, I would not want any memories of him erased at all. I'd want to keep all my memories of him. BSBlvrgyrl4evr: WHAT DID U THINK ABOUT THE MTV FANATIC? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Actually, I finally got to see that, cause people told me it had been on. I thought it turned out pretty good...I think it's a great idea in general. The time that we were on there, i thought it was really cool. I thought it was funny that the girl's sister was like "why do you like these guys? I can sing better than they can", but she met us, she was all shy and stuff...and I didn't know she dissed us until I saw the show and we sang a cappella for her and blew her away. I think it's a cool idea.. and the girl who was on for us, inspired us a lot. We heard about Alex who went to see us up in Concord and missed us. We all say hello and we're sorry that you missed most of the show, but glad you got to see the end...and we may be in touch so that you can see us again. ENZOFERRAZ: Where was your first kiss? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: My first kiss... I started kissing at a young age.. I was like 4 years old, I had a next door neighbor, a girl we used to hang out a little bit, and she and her friend used to hang kisses on me. My first real kiss was in fifth grade, when we were at the roller rink, and they played a slow song, and we went into the back corner and kissed. CatPhat2death: What's the most memorable or sweetest thing a fan's ever done for you? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: There have been lots of incredible stuff... There was a fan that had a silver ring made for me and it was like 4 yrs ago when we first started touring in Europe and it had the musical notes to one of our songs around it like the staff, and the music went to "never break your heart." I've worn it and kept it ever since. There have been letters and poems written about my father. They've made us cookies and brownies to make us fat on the tour bus. We do keep a pet mouse in a cage on the bus, and if he doesn't die after eating it, we'll eat it ;-) tigger603121: Why did you name yourselves "Backstreet Boys?" Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Well, it was kind of a collaboration between us and our manager. There's a place in Orlando called the BackStreet market and we wanted something that flowed good... you've got the Beastie Boys, the Oakridge Boys and the Pet Shop Boys and Boys doesn't just mean Boys, but is slang for friends. And the place in Orlando was a parking lot where people would hang out with their friends and chill. do_me_like_you_do_kentucky: What's the stupidest argument you have been in with the guys? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Which one? There's so many. Just could be over what we're gonna wear on a TV show or something.. it could be over a bunk on the bus. It could be over anything.. It's like a family or best friends or brothers. We are like a bunch of brothers.. We've been together for over 6 years. CKS1215: Why are you guys so hot? Are you born with it or is it Maybeline? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: That's a nice compliment. I guess we have our mothers and fathers to thank, good genes. It's in the genes! We try to take care of ourselves.. eat right, exercise.. try to anyway. Some of us do.. AJ is a Mr. McDonald's man.. trying to keep him away from that stuff. BuckCuties: Do you feel that your fame has affected you? If so how? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I think that it's definitely affected the amount of free time I dont have anymore. It's made me kinda when people talk to me or when people are introduced to me I wonder what their motive is. I'm just kind of cautious. It's made me cautious of whatever I do because they put stars and celebrities under a microscope and analyze everything they do. If you make a mistake, everyone knows. So you want to be cautious. I don't think I've changed that much. I feel like the same old me, I dont feel any different. It's made me, the fact that we're successful now, has made me that much more of a perfectionist...people are looking at us now, so it's always got to be perfect. I'm not paranoid or anything! Just kidding.. :) It's made me realize that more than anything you really can accomplish things if you go out and go for it. If there's anything I can tell anybody out there --- It can happen to you. You can make a living doing something that you love, as long as you work hard and you're decent at it, get good at it...You have to work hard to get good at it, if you have a talent. DisNickFan: What is your idea of a dream date? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Hmm.. Dream Date... Good dinner, good conversation...probably an italian dinner, some wine -- red wine and then after that maybe a movie or dancing or I don't know, something like that. I got choked up at the World Music Awards because we were dedicating the award to Brian who was getting operated on that day. aetkkl: What is your favorite place to perform? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: In the shower probably. That's where I started out performing. ChatYahoo_Lisa: I thought it was your hairbrush. Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: That's another thing that has been totally blown out of proportion.. you mention it once and it's the "hairbrush in front of the mirror". But the shower's got good acoustics :) Janicekaosnc: If you could sing a duet with anyone living or dead, who would it be with and why?? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: Wow...Some of the people I really look up to in the industry are Elton John and Prince and Billy Joel because Elton and Billy are phenomenal piano players, I've played keyboards since I was 9 yrs old and Prince can play just about anything. But my voice style would be more like Elton John or Billy Joel. pepsiblue1234: If you had a day to be invisible, what would you do? Yahoo_BackstreetBoy: I'd go out in the audience and watch our show. I wish I could watch our show from the audience -- and have me on stage too -- that's something I'd like to do.
