The Beautiful People This video is very cool. It starts with some random images, and then with some fake hands (they are the clay-glass sort of kind). There's a whole lot of them. Marilyn is then pictured wearing some very interesting clothing (you have to see it for yourself) and singing into a microphone that's been through some 'changes.' (it has all kinds of other wires and pieces of metal on it) More random images, including a worm and Marilyn with a device on his face that keeps his mouth open. There are also stomping feet and pictures of random people. Then the band starts singing and playing on a wooden deck. Two people wearing dresses sort of elevate several feet (they are on stilts obviously) and start dancing around. Then Marilyn is shown on a balcony way above everyone else, looking down. His head shakes back and forth after he throws his hands up in the air. Then he is wearing one of those dresses and is on stilts, holding onto two people's heads to keep himself up. He's in the middle of a crowd dancing (all the people are throwing their hands up in the air and cheering for him), and leaning forward shaking his head in people's faces. We see him with the sort of headgear on again, and then is shows and old, disintegrating building (much like the one in the Sweet Dreams video) where a woman is standing, wearing a frame for one of those old dresses (the kind that puffed out because they have pieces of plastic sewn into them). Then we see a man walking along wearing leg braces. Then, Marilyn is in some kind of machine (it rotates. it's like one of those machines for back therapy, it just spins you around very slowly), and he's singing calmly for just a moment, but when he gets to the 'old fashioned fascism will take it away' part, he kind of freaks out. Then it shows the band playing (and doing other things as well), and then it cuts back to the tall people wearing dresses who were dancing with each other. They dance for a little while, and then it shows Marilyn in a new device, a kind of a chair. He's wearing a neck brace, and singing. One of his eyes is closed, the other is rolling all around in his head. Then he's on the stilts again (and in the dress) with a circle of people marching around him. He's counting them off, and pointing at them one by one. More scenes of the band playing, and then some trick photography; it appears that some footage of people walking down the street (a whole lot of people on each side) has been turned upside down, and Marilyn is in front of the camera, singing, and shaking his head more. Then there's a very short, interesting scene that shows him on the stilts singing, and kind of swinging back and forth. Then he's singing again, and he has a very weird look on his face.... then he is holding a sort of mirror in front of him, it makes his head look small and his mouth look disproportionately large. Then we see lots of random images that consist of everything we've seen in the video so far. The video ends.
Alright.....what I think about this video? I think it represents ultimate fascism. Fairly simple concept. Happens to work.
