Nowhere Fast History 101
A Short Overview
Nowhere Fast is currently a three piece emotion driven punk band from Mason City, Iowa. They formed with Scott Little, Matt Kessler and Russ Sampson writing a few simple punk songs at Scott's house, under a different name every practice. Suddenly (this was under name #3, Thin Ice, named after a sign Scott had stolen off the lake that winter) they realized they needed someone to sing, since neither Matt or Russ could strum a guitar and make noise vocally at the same time. Scott refused to become a new-age Eagles, so his singing was out of the question. At that point, Matt played bass and Russ played the only guitar, but after recruiting Jeremy Otto, who got bored with only singing after a few months, they switched Jer to bass, and Matt picked up a second guitar, playing lead. The songs then and now are mainly written by Matt and Jer, and Scott throws in his own touch to the drums. After a few hit and miss attempts at creating a "style" of music, they decided they'd play whatever the hell they want, whenever the hell they want to. However, after playing a few shows, the band realized they didn't really like the music they had made and took nearly 8 months 'off' to write entirely new music in a 'style' they can refer to as only "emocorepunkrock". (It has to be all one word, otherwise you can make out different styles, but the band isn't emo, they're not core, they're not punk, and they're not rock. But if you combine it all into emocorepunkrock, it's all of it together.) The band is now scheduling shows wherever they can find them, to try to impress girls. Along with the whole set of new music, NF recruited Colin as the official photographer, to capture their every move on film, and also try to impress girls. Unfortunately however, due to Russ's lack of commitment, and over-all nonchalant attitude towards the band, Nowhere Fast turned again back into a three piece, but remember, Colin makes up for at least 3 more people, which we hear is very attractive to girls.
