Chapter Three:
The Family

"Nick!"

Nick had been sitting in the backstage dressing room when he heard that annoying yet strangely satisfying voice yell to him. It was close it 3pm, and they still hadn't started the soundcheck. He was tired and couldn't stop thinking about his girlfriend.

"Nick??? Where are you?"

The voice yelled again. He hadn't seen his little brother in about two months, but he had gone to see him in New York when he was in the musical. He did an awesome job, he was very proud of him. Nick stood up and walked out of the dressing room, to find his little brother and sister running around backstage. They were obviously looking for him.

"Aaron! Angel!" Nick screamed to them.

"NICK!" he heard the twins yell in unison. They both turned around and ran into his open arms. Nick missed them alot when he was on tour. He was seven-years-old when they were born, but he love them alot.

"Nick, I've missed you so much." Nick's youngest sister Angel cried, letting tears pour down her cheeks. It'd been even longer since he'd seen her and his other family.

Nick's mom always went out on tour with Aaron and Leslie, so he only saw them between tours and at special events. His dad usually came out on tour with them, but for this leg of our tour, his dad was traveling around the country with Angel, who was pursuing her modelling career. And BJ had been overseas alot recently. She was modelling and acting as well. Nick's whole family hardly ever got together. So this get-together was going to be very emotional for everyone.

"Hey Ang... I missed you too. You're growing up so much." Nick told his little sister. She was a great girl. She supported him and Aaron and now Leslie so much. She didn't care that they were famous. They were still just her siblings. "Where's everyone else?" Nick asked them.

"Mom and dad and Beege are somewhere... and Leslie took off with AJ somewhere." Aaron laughed. AJ was turning Leslie into a rebel.

"Oh great, just what I need... Leslie in more trouble." Nick joked. "Let's go see Mom and Dad and BJ." he finished and grabbed both his siblings' hands.

"NICKY!" a voice called to him and he knew it was his mom. He ran in her direction and gave her a huge hug. He basically scooped her up and swung her around. He was alot bigger than she was.

"MOMMY!" Nick yelled back and kissed her cheek.

"Nicky, how are you? You look great!" his mom smiled and hugged him again.

"I'm good, Mom. How are you?" he asked her.

"I'm good. We're all good. It's so good to see my family together again." his mom started to cry happily.

Nick let go of her and wrapped his arms around his sister BJ. Her full name was Bobbie Jean, and he usually called her Bobbie, because that's what he grew up calling her. People these days just call her BJ, though.

"It's so good to see my big brother again... it's been like four or five months." BJ told him with a smile. Her and Nick were really close, always had been.

"I haven't seen you since your birthday back in January." Nick remembered. She nodded.

"Guess who I saw last week?" BJ asked her big brother. Having no idea, he just shrugged. "Savanna... she was in Orlando. I was there visiting Jamie and I bumped into her at the mall. She looks alot different than last time I saw her." BJ told him. Jamie is BJ's boyfriend who lives in Orlando.

"You saw Savanna in Orlando?" Nick yelled. She nodded. "She never told me she was in Orlando."

"Oh... well, yeah, she seemed to be alone, I don't know why. I only talked to her for a few minutes. She looks good." BJ answered.

"Oh... uh... alright." Nick wasn't sure what to say. Why hadn't she told him that she went to Orlando? It was an hour drive from Lakeland, she'd had no reason to go there. "I get to see her tomorrow..." Nick mumbled.

"When did you see her last?" BJ asked.

"I saw her in Orlando, like... two or three weeks ago. She went to see the show there. But... I only saw her for, like, an hour. I get almost a full month alone with her starting tomorrow. Oh, it's gonna be great." he smiled, thinking about being with her again. BJ laughed.

"Nickolas... don't you do anything stupid." his dad warned jokingly. Nick turned around and gave him a hug. His dad and him were best friends. He probably saw him the most out of his family.

"Don't worry Daddy, I would never." Nick joked back. "Don't you trust me?" he grinned.

"Yeah... just not when you're with Savanna. You two are trouble-makers." he laughed. His dad refused to use nicknames. Nick was 'Nickolas' and BJ was 'Bobbie' to him. It didn't matter though.

"Yeah, you're right, we are." Nick laughed and hugged his dad again.

Nick, his parents, BJ, and the twins all hung-out, talked and reminised for a little while, though they were all curious about what Leslie was doing with AJ. Leslie loved the other Backstreet Boys like they were all her big brothers. She wished they were. Her and AJ got along the best. They were both crazy.

"Where's that Leslie off to?" their mom spoke up. They all laughed.

"Don't worry Mom, I'm sure she's just outside smoking up with AJ or something." Nick joked. His mom shot him a look. Everyone burst out laughing again.

They were still all laughing when AJ and Leslie walked over to them a few minutes later.

"What were you doing?" Aaron asked his sister between laughs.

"We were outside... talking to fans. Why are you all laughing?" Leslie wondered.

"Uh... no reason." Angel grinned.

"Anyway, we were told we're starting the soundcheck now, so we came in." AJ said, pulling on my arm.

"Oh, ok... see ya guys." Nick said to his family as he got pulled away by AJ.

The soundcheck only took an hour, because the dancers were there and they went through everything pretty fast. My family watched from backstage and Nick brought Aaron out on stage and he started singing with them, which was fun.

It was close to 5pm when everything was done and they could go have some free time before the show which was at 8pm. Which actually only gave them two hours, since they had to be back at the staduim around 7pm. But two hours was enough to do what Nick wanted to do.

"Hey Aaron, you wanna go out shopping with me for a little while?" he asked his little brother, after he was told he could leave the staduim.

"Yeah, yeah... MOM!!!" Aaron screamed. "Can I go shopping with Nick?"

Their mom had been talking to Nick's management, but smiled and walked over to him and Aaron, a minute later.

"What are you going shopping for, Nick?" she asked him suspiously. She thought Nick was going to take Aaron to the race-track or something. I used to do that alot, when Aaron was younger. Nick would tell her they were going to the mall but then they'd go somewhere else.

"Mom... I haven't been with my girlfriend in over two months... I haven't been able to get her anything, either. I need to pick her up something." Nick said seriously.

"Ok, Nicky, I trust you. You don't have much time, though." she said.

"I know, that's why I want to go now... can we go?" he asked her again.

"Of course. Do you want to take a body guard...?" she asked. She always had to make sure her kids were safe. And the Carter Brothers walking around the mall alone was probably not a smart idea.

"Do we have to? We'll be fine." Nick asked. Aaron agreed. He wanted it to be just him and Nick.

"No, you don't have to. Just be careful, guys. And be back here before 7pm, ok?" their mom smiled and gave them both a hug.

"We will. Love you Mom." Nick smiled back.

"Yeah, love you Mom." Aaron agreed.

Then the two of them went over to a guy from our management and made sure they could use his jeep. He said sure. So Nick got his keys and then they went out to the parking lot. They jumped into the awesome yellow and black 2001 jeep and Nick started the engine.

"Are we really going to the mall?" Aaron asked his big brother excitedly.

"Yeah. I didn't lie." Nick laughed. "I do need to get something for Savanna."

"What are you going to get her?" Aaron asked. Nick shrugged.

"I don't know. Something special. You can help me find something, right?" Nick asked his little brother.

"Yeah." he answered.

"Do you want to know what I did this morning?" Nick asked Aaron again. He nodded with a grin. He was so cute. "I told Savanna I love her." he finished.

Aaron's mouth dropped open. He looked shocked. "Really?" he asked. Nick nodded. "Do you really love her? I mean... I know you love her... you've always loved her... wait- did she say it back?" Aaron asked.

"No... not really. I but I know she loves me. That doesn't matter." he replied. Aaron nodded.

"So are you going to get a ring or something?" Aaron asked me. Nick looked at him with a grin.

"Good idea, bro. I think I will get her a ring." he finished.

Aaron let out a laugh and then looked out the window again.

"So..." Nick asked him just a few minutes later. "What about you?"

"What about me?" he asked back.

"You have a girlfriend?" Nick asked him with a laugh.

"I have a few." he stated. "But not like you and Savanna. I want a girlfriend like Savanna." he smiled.

"You just wait a few years, pal. But don't be a player, 'aight?" Nick asked him. He nodded.

"I ain't a player." he finished with a smile.
