Chapter Fifty-Four:
A Day In The Life

*5 Days Later; July 20th; Cincinnati, Ohio*

"Today is the MTV special! Today is the MTV special!"

Joey was hyper, like always, but especially hyper this morning. I glanced at my watch. It was 4:34am. I, too, was excited about the MTV special with Carson Daly. Our "time slot" with him was from 10am to noon. Aaron's was right after ours, noon to 2pm. Rowdy was before us from 8am to 10am. soulDecision was after Aaron, until 4pm. Christina was after them, until 6pm, and BSB were last, right up until the concert, which started at quarter after 8pm tonight. We were all big Carson Daly fans, and were really nervous about meeting him. Aaron had told us how nice he was, though.

"Joey, it's too early to be singing stupid songs about MTV!"

One of the guys called to her. Well, I knew it wasn't Fox, since he was in my bunk with me. That left Tony or Luke. We didn't care who said it though. Joey ignored him and kept singing.

"We get to meet Carson! We get to meet Carson!"

"JOEY! Please, shut up!"

She got yelled at again, this time by Marce, who poked her head out of her bunk angrily.

"Damn, isn't anyone as excited as I am?" Joey practically screamed.

"I am Joe!" I yelled to her happily, and she swung my curtain open.

"Thanks Fay." she replied. "Oh hey Foxy, how you doin?" she asked him, grinning.

"Awesome. I get to meet Carson too, you know?" he asked cutely. He was joking, of course.

"Yeah, you do. Man, I can't wait six more hours!" Joey finished, closing the curtain again.

"She's adorable." I smiled, looking away from Fox. He nodded, agreeing. Everyone thought she was adorable.

"So are you." Fox whispered.

"Thanks... but..." I said, but didn't finish the sentence. "Anyway, you're not really excited about meeting Carson Daly, are you?" I asked.

"No... but Aaron told us he's really cool so we don't mind, you know?" Fox replied. I nodded.

"I love you Fox... you know how sad it's going to be, after the tour, leaving everyone, going back to Jackson in less then two weeks?" I asked him. He nodded.

"I love you too." was all he said, but then realized he should finish. "Yeah, it will be a little sad. But, at least we'll be together." he told me. I smiled. How did he always manage to make me happy?

"Yeah, we will." I finished, and layed my head back down on his chest. But now all I could think about was meeting Carson Daly.

*5 Hours Later; 9:30am*

"Ok, so, is everything all planned?" Marce asked nervously, directing the question to Jamal, who stood near us in the large room we were in.

"Yes. We are waiting here for Carson Daly and the camera crew to arrive. Then we are starting by going in the limo across town to the meeting for the album release, until about 10:30am. Then we're taking the limo back to the arena for your soundcheck from 11am to noon. Then they'll leave us and go with Aaron." Jamal replied.

"Wow... that's nuts. We're going to be on live TV for two hours!" Cher laughed, when it finally sunk in.

"You are going to be great, don't worry about it." Jamal reassured us all.

Then door opened at five to 10am. We knew it was them. We all took deep breaths and grabbed hands.

"This is it..." Joey mumbled.

In walked Carson Daly and three other guys, and two woman. Ok, Carson was alot taller than I imagined he would be. He was grinning as he walked closer to us. Jimmy and Trevor entered the room with them.

"Carson, these are our girls... Joey, Fay, Cher, Dare and Marcella." Trevor smiled, pointing to each of us. "And these are the girls' dancers, Fox, Tony and Luke Matson." he continued.

"It's really good to finally meet you, all of you. I've been seeing ya'll in the magazines, and I picked up your new single." Carson told us. All five of us girls just looked back at him, speechless. Carson let out a laugh.

"Girls, don't be rude." Jamal told us with a laugh.

"Uh... sorry... yeah, well... we're big fans of you." I spoke up, choking on my words.

"Thanks... I'll introduce ya'll to my crew. This is Jacob, Razal and Paul, the camera-men. And that's Liisa, my microphone lady..." he said, and paused for a moment. There was still another girl there. "And this is my fiancee, Tara, she really wanted to come meet you and everyone, so I let her come." he continued, wrapping his arms around the last girl. We all "awww" ed for a moment.

"I'm Joey, it's really awesome to meet you, all of you." Joey finally found her voice.

We all just kinda talked for about ten more minutes. But then we realized that we had to get to a meeting by quarter after 10am. It was about to be a really short meeting, and we were already behind time. So, we all piled into another limo, and Carson and his crew took a seperate one, following behind us to the other building. We got there about twenty after 10am, which was late. That only left about ten to twenty minutes for the "meeting".

"Sorry we're late... Mr. Calso, Mr. Yogomo." Trevor said quickly, as we all rushed into the room.

"That's quite alright, Mr. Willis, hello Mr. Taylor... hello girls." Mr. Yogomo, a short bald Chinese man smiled at us. Then he looked past us at the camera crew.

"Oh, I hope you don't mind the cameras. It's our 'day in the life' today, for MTV." Jimmy spoke up.

"No, it's ok. This is going to be short anyway." Mr. Calso replied. He was an average height man. His hair was jet black and slicked back. Both men looked very perfessional.

"Alright." Jamal smiled. "Well, I'm Jamal Dunn, part of their management."

"Yes, we heard about you. Nice to meet you." Mr. Calso continued.

"You too." Jamal finished, shaking their hands.

The "meeting" started minutes later. The reason I say "meeting" like that is because I don't think it was much of one. All we did was sit there and listen to there guys talk our ears off about the release date. We didn't understand what he meant at all. But we saw Jimmy, Trevor and Jamal all nodding and agreeing, so we guessed it was going well. Carson sat across the table from Joey, Cher and I, and next to Marce and Dare. He kept making goofy faces at us, which made us burst out laughing. Then we had to apologize. But it was so funny.

At 10:45am, the men stood up again and stopped talking. The rest of us stood up, hoping it was time to go. Trevor nodded at us.

"Girls..." he started. "Great news!"

"And... what's that?" Cher asked excitedly.

"We're recording the last song next week, and then it's set." Jamal told us. We all smiled. We knew that was good.

"And the album will be called Fragile, like you all wanted." Jimmy continued. That made us even more excited.

We didn't care that a live camera was taping us, we all jumped up and started dancing around. Carson couldn't help but laugh again.

"So, what's the date?" Dare asked, as she calmed down slightly.

"September 20th, 2001." Trevor informed us, smiling. They were just as happy as we were.

"That's only two months!" I screamed, realizing. Joey grabbed my hands and we danced around the room together.

We left there by ten to 11am. We met up with Tony, Luke and Fox, who couldn't come in the meeting. They were waiting down in the lobby. Then we all got into the limos again and sped to the arena for the soundcheck.

They taped most of the soundcheck, all live. All our screw-ups, our swearing, our laughing and giggling. And they got a few seconds of Fox and I making out during a short break. I swore at Carson, but it was too late. The whole United States had already seen us making out. Oh well.

We were a bit sad when noon came around. That meant our time with Carson was over. We didn't mind that our time was up for being on TV, we just loved being with Carson. He was just so much fun. Aaron ran over to us, doing a "guy handshake" with Carson, just after 12pm. The five of us hugged Carson, said bye to Tara and the camera people, and then they were gone.

"Wow..." Joey smiled, after he was gone. "He's so hot."

"He's also so taken." Luke bugged her, and began tickling her. She squirmed away from him and ran across the stage.

The rest of the day was boring. We met back at the arena for 7pm. Backstreet Boys were doing an interview with Carson when we got there. We hung out with Aaron backstage, most of the time. Then the concert that night was also taped live for the MTV special.

We loaded up our stuff and climbed onto the tourbus again, at 11:30pm that night. I had no idea what our destination was, nor did I care. All I wanted to crawl into my bunk, curl up next to Fox, and fall asleep in his arms. And that's exactly what I did.
