"Come on AJ! The party starts in ten minutes and it takes that long to get there!"
AJ McLean heard his buddy, Nick Carter, calling for him. AJ was still in the washroom of his friend Kevin's house, making sure he looked perfect.
"I'll be right down, Nicky!" AJ called back, as he turned off the washroom light and stepped out. Then he slowly walked down the hallway, making sure not to step on his cape, which was long, past his feet, dragging on the ground. As AJ got to the end of the hallway, he stopped at the top of the stairs. He saw his four closet friends all waiting at the door for him.
"Woah, AJ, you look good." Howie Dorough exclaimed as he looked up at AJ.
"Yeah, man, that's a great costume, where'd you get it?" Brian Littrell agreed.
"Oh..." AJ started, "It's just something I threw together." Then he laughed and walked down the stairs. Then the five friends all left for the Hallowe'en party they were attending that evening.
Kevin Richardson, who was driving, pulled up to a huge house and turned off the car. All five guys got out and walked up to the door.
AJ McLean was dressed as a Vampire, Nick Carter was a mummy (AN: The "Everybody" video!), Brian Littrell was dressed as a hockey player, Howie Dorough was a chef, and Kevin Richardson was dressed as football player.
Anyway, the front door opened and the guys were greeted by someone dressed up as a scarecrow. It was their close friend, Doug, who was hosting the party.
"Hey guys, ya'll look great, c'mon in." Doug told them, opening the door wider as they stepped in. Doug had a soft Kentucky accent. So did Brian and Kevin, because they grew up here, in Lexington, Kentucky.
And tonight was Hallowe'en. Kevin's close buddy Doug had invited them to this party weeks ago, but they didn't think they could make it. But then they were able to get down to Kentucky, for a month. They'd only been in Kentucky for three days, and they were staying about two more weeks. Then they'd be going to visit Nick's family in California.
"Hey, guys, where's Bone?" Nick laughed, noting that AJ wasn't anywhere in sight.
"Uh, he's probably checking out chicks, or something like that." Brian chuckled. "That's reminds me... I'm gonna go search for a lovely lady to chat with." he laughed, as he started walking away. But before he got very far, Nick called to him,
"Hey B-Rok, don't forget that you've got a girlfriend... remember LeighAnne?" he joked.
"I know, but I can still talk to girls, Nick, and so can you." Brian replied happily.
"You're right, Rok. Let's go find ourselves some chicks." Nick laughed as he ran after Brian, towards a group of pretty girls.
*Meanwhile... with AJ*
"Really? You just got back from Europe? That's so cool!"
"Yeah, I can't believe you haven't heard of us... The Backstreet Boys?" AJ asked, as he stared into the eyes of a pretty brunette named Jessica.
At the moment, AJ was single. On a regular basis, if you asked if he was dating someone, his answer would be yes. But rigth now, he just broke if off with his ex, Amanda, due to difficulties, because of him being gone all the time. AJ was trying to stay more focused on his music, and with touring all the time, it wasn't fair to both him and the girl he was dating. But somehow, he always ended up with a girlfriend. It was probably because he was always flirting.
"Nope. I don't really listen to music much, and I like country music more than anything. I'm really involved in my schooling right now, I just don't have time for much fun." the girl told AJ, her bright green eyes glowing in the darkness.
"Oh, well you should definately check us out sometime..." AJ said seriously. She just nodded at him, smiling.
"AJ?" she suddenly asked him. He glanced at her quickly and said,
"Yeah?"
"I really like you..." she told him quietly. AJ grinned, knowing that she liked him for him, not because he was a Backstreet Boy. That was what happened to a few past girlfriends. They just used him for his fame and money. AJ hated that.
"I like you too, Jess." he flirted. Her smiled grew wider.
"Well, you wanna go upstairs to a room, and talk?" she asked him.
"Sure, I'll go ask Doug-" AJ started.
"Don't bother, he won't mind." Jessica said quickly, almost to quickly. But AJ didn't mind. He just nodded and took ahold of her hand. He lead her upstairs and into the first bedroom on the left.
Brian and Nick were just talking to a few girls, on one of the couches, Howie was talking to a few older fans, and Kevin and hanging-out with Doug and his friends.
"Hey Rok, we should probably get going, eh? We need a good 10 hours of sleep each night, remember?" Nick leaned over and whispered in Brian's ear. He agreed, so the two guys bid their farwells to the four girls they were keeping company. Then they walked over to where Howie was and pulled him away from the fans.
"Thanks guys, my hand was getting sore from signing my name on every those girls owned." Howie said, exagerating a bit.
"No problem." Nick said proudly, "We gotta get going anyway... it's after midnight."
"Really?" Howie asked, "I've been signing my name for four hours?" he joked.
Then the three of them walked over and found Kevin, who was just sitting on a couch in the next room with three other guys.
"C'mon Kev, we've gots to get goin'..." Nick yelled, patting Kevin on the back jokingly.
"Yeah, it is getting late, we better go." Kevin agreed, standing up.
"Ok, guys, thanks for coming down... Kev, give me a call tomorrow, aight?" Doug said, giving Kevin a "guy hug". Kevin agreed and then Doug shook all the other guys' hands.
"Hey wait, where's AJ?" Doug asked, as he got to Howie, and realized someone was missing.
"I saw AJ go upstairs with the ever-so-beautiful Jessica Malo, a very long time ago." Doug friend, Mark, replied to Doug's question.
"Oh man!" Kevin exclaimed with a laugh. "Who's gonna go up and find him?" Kevin asked. Everyone turned to Howie.
"Why me?" Howie yelled, "Who knows what that guy's up to?"
"D just go!" Brian pushed him towards the stairs.
So Howie finally agreed and walked quickly up the stairs. As he approached the first room on the left, he found the door closed. So he knocked and yelled,
"Bone, you in there? We're leaving now!"
Howie waited outside the door for closed to five mintues, knocking and yelling, before someone came to it, and opened the door. Howie was then faced with his best friend.
"Oh good, you're here, come on, let's go." Howie told AJ, sighing with relief.
"Just give me a minute, ok? I'll be right down." AJ said seriously. Howie just nodded and left to go back downstairs.
*In The Bedroom... AJ and Jessica*
"So Jess, I gotta go..." AJ told his new friend.
"Ok, that's cool. Call me ok?" she asked him.
"You bet I will." he agreed. Then he got up and left the room, right after he gave her a small kiss on her cheek.
Truth was, AJ and Jessica just talked, for the whole four hours, getting to know each other. Nothing more happened. They exchanged numbers, and promised they'd keep in touch.
As AJ slowly walked down the stairs, he saw his four best friends waiting at the bottom, just like they were about 4 hours ago, at Kevin's house. When AJ got to the bottom, he imediately got several questions shot at him.
"What were ya doin' up there, bro?" Brian asked.
"Yeah, you were up there the whole time!" Kevin agreed.
"Man, you just broke up with Amanda!" Howie laughed.
"Did you score?" Nick asked him with a laugh.
AJ thought for a second and then he just said,
"Of course... you know me, don't ya?"
