It was 7pm when we left our apartment. Just me, Shanelle and the boys. Mackenzie swore that he already had plans for the night, but I just think he didn't want to go to the BSB concert. I didn't mind though. I didn't want him to know my secret yet anyway. The boys didn't really know where we were going. They knew we were going to a concert, but they didn't really know what that was anyway.
They were hyper, yelling and screaming, as we parked about a block from the crowded Arena. I held Eden, Shanlle held Emery, and we walked to the Arena. Outside was at least a few hundred loud, crazy fans, just waiting to get a glimpse of one of the guys. We went into the lobby together and had to push past tons of girls just to get in. Then we waited. That was the longest time I've ever had to wait. At least it felt like it was.
"Excuse me... sorry if I'm wrong, but are you Torrance Anderson??" a voice from behind us asked. We turned around and saw a large black man with a green shirt that had the word "SECURITY" printed in bold letters around the front and back. Guessing it was "Johnny", I just nodded.
"Yes... I'm Torrance Anderson." I repeated.
"Good, I was so scared I'd bring the wrong person or something." the man laughed. I smiled.
"This is my friend Shanelle..." I let my voice trail off, thinking he probably didn't care.
"And these two little boys?" he asked cutely.
"Eden and Emery." I replied.
"Ok, then... well... Nick is waiting backstage for ya'll, so just follow me, try not to get lost." he laughed again.
Backstage was far from what I'd imagined it would be like. I pictured expensive everything, and just like couches and mirrors and everything. But it really was just a large area, with a few closed off rooms.
Johnny just kept walking, and it seemed like he'd never stop. I just wanted to see Nick. Eden and Emery were whining by this point. They didn't want to be carried anymore, but I couldn't risk putting them down, since I'd probably lose them.
"Ok... he's right in there. He's alone, so you can just go it, he's waiting." Johnny told us.
"Thank you so much." I replied. He just nodded and walked away. I looked at Shanelle and handed Eden to her. She held them both as I knocked on the door.
"Come in!" I heard a voice from the other side.
"This is it, 'Nelle. Stay out here, I'll be right back." I told her. She nodded.
I turned the doorknob and went in the room, closing the door behind me. I saw Nick sitting alone on a large couch.
"Oh, baby..." he began, standing up. "I'm so glad it's you. The guys have been in here every five minutes checking on me." he smiled his gorgeous smile and wrapped his large arms around me.
"Do they know I'm here?" I asked him.
"I told them someone special was coming, but I think they know, yeah. My mom and brother know, I told them." he answered.
"What... what did they say?" I wanted to know.
"My mom sort of flipped for a few minutes earlier, but she got over it. I told her how much I want to be with you and our sons... and she understands. She's a great mom, you know? And she's estatic that she's got grandchildren." he laughed, making me smile. I knew Jane was really sweet.
"So, everything's ok?" I asked him, still not fully sure.
"Yes, just like I said it would be." he reasurred me. But he looked a little dissapointed. "You didn't bring the boys?" he asked after a few more minutes.
"No, yes, I did. They're outside with Shanelle. You... you want to see them?" I asked the obvious.
"Shit, yes, I do. Wow..." Nick was a little overwhelmed.
"Ok... I'll be right back." I told him, turning around.
"Torr, wait." he told me, grabbing for my arm. I stopped.
"What?" I asked him.
He reached toward me and placed his hands on my face. He took another step toward me and moved his face closer. I knew he was going to kiss me again, and I was prepared to let him. Our lips met for the second time that day. After I pulled back, I just turned and went to the door. I opened it a little and just nodded at Shanelle. She put the boys down.
"Guys, hold my hands." I told them. Each of them grabbed one of my hands.
"What we doin', Mama?" Eden asked me right away.
"Where are we?" Emery asked me right after.
"I want you guys to meet someone." I told them.
Then the three of us went back into the room where Nick was waiting again. The expression on his face when he saw the boys was priceless. I don't really know what he was expecting, but I think he sure got a surprise. He just looked like he was going to start crying, right then and there. He was totally speechless for what seemed like forever. I just wanted him to say something.
"Nick..." I wasn't sure what to say, but I knew something had to be said. "These are your sons, that's Eden in shorts and Emery in pants." I identified them.
"...I really don't know what to say." he began. Waiting at least another minute, he said, "Um... they're beautiful... I can't believe this."
"It's ok. I mean... I've waited for this day for three years. I've always wanted you to meet them. I always wanted us to be a family." I told Nick.
"These are my sons, right here?" he asked again. He knew it was the truth, but he had a hard time believing it. I just nodded.
"They are our sons." I corrected him. He nodded back.
"God, I love you, Torrance, I love you so much." he told me in a whisper. I didn't know if I should tell him I loved him too. But I didn't even have time to say anything else.
The door to the dressing room barged open and there stood Brian Littrell and AJ McLean. They saw me, the boys and Nick... together. They knew it was me. They knew it was our sons. They both just stood there, staring in shock.
