Unexpected Friendships:
Chapter Eighteen

It was just ten or fifteen minutes later when Nick and I were together again, surrounded by the other BSB, Jane and Aaron Carter and some other people I didn't know. Everyone's eyes were on me. I just smiled, looking around. Aaron was the first to talk.

"So, how have you been, Torr? Like, really?" he asked cutely.

"Good. I'd been living in Sanford for just over three years, and we just moved here a few weeks ago." I replied.

"We? You and who?" Aaron asked, "Your friend? What was her name... Mallory?"

"No, not Mallory. She didn't come with me. I..." I began, looking into Nick's eyes. We knew we had to tell Aaron about the twins. Nick nodded at me. "We need to talk to you, buddy." I told Aaron. "Me and Nick and you... we gotta talk." I finished.

"Oh... ok... why?" he asked. "Don't we gotta go do the meet 'n greet now?"

"Uh, we'll go ahead, get things started. Ya'll can come when you're done." Kevin spoke up, smiling at me. The other BSB agreed.

I mouthed "thank you" to Kevin and he just nodded before he left the room. Suddenly everyone was gone. It was just Nick, Aaron and I in the small room backstage. I took a deep breath and sat down next to Nick on the couch. Aaron sat on the couch across from us.

"What are we talking about?" he asked again.

"Aaron... we have something to tell you." Nick began.

"We're sorry we didn't tell you earlier, really... but Nick didn't really know until just yesterday either." I budded in. Aaron looked confused.

" 'Bout what?" he asked, really wanting to know. "Tell me."

"Alright..." I started again. "You remember the little boys that were with me and my friend earlier?" I asked him.

"Uh huh... they were adorable. Tell your friend I think they're really cute." he replied.

"No... Aaron... you don't get it." Nick told his brother. "They're not Torr's friend's kids."

"O...K..." Aaron said, still confused, "So, who's are they?" he asked us.

"Buddy... they're.. mine." I blurted out. The look on Aaron's little face was priceless. He looked so shocked, he wasn't expecting that. "They're three and a half-years-old... Eden and Emery."

"Y-yours?" he asked quickly. "How can they be yours? And how can they be three-years-old? You were still with Nick three years ago." Aaron said, but then he closed his eyes tightly, thinking. He knew what we were trying to tell him. He finally understood.

"I'm sorry I never told you, pal. I was about six months pregnant when I moved back to Sanford." I told him.

Aaron turned and looked at Nick then, with a look of anger on his face. "You knew she was pregnant and you didn't tell me? And that's why you broke up with her? I can't believe you did that to her, Nick! You're such a jerk!" he screamed, and stood up.

"Aaron, no... it wasn't Nick's fault, don't be mad at him." I told Aaron, who was ready to run out of the room.

"It was his decision, he left you. He just moved on and pretended he didn't know you. He didn't talk about you for like a whole year! I can't believe this!" Aaron screamed again, looking at me.

I was standing now, but looking down at Nick. He looked sad. I shot him a sad look but then stepped forward closer to Aaron. He took a step back, but stopped.

"I'm sorry, Torr... I'm sorry for what my brother did to you. If it was me, I wouldn't have left you. I'm not as stupid as my brother is. I loved you Torr, like my big sister, and I still do." Aaron told me, tears forming in his eyes. "I don't blame you for anything, none of this is your fault. I'm not mad at you either. But... if I was you, I wouldn't like Nick very much right now. I know I don't!" he yelled, turning away. He didn't want me to see him crying.

"Aaron..." I whispered, stepping closer. He didn't say a word and just fell into my arms. I hugged him so tight. I didn't want him to be mad at his brother, but he had the right to say how he felt.

Nick didn't know what to say. Aaron was right. He had been stupid about his decisions. But he was just an 18-year-old guy back then. After Aaron pulled away from our hug, He looked into my eyes and whispered,

"I gotta get out of here, I'm sorry."

"It's ok Aaron, you have the right to be mad... I'm really sorry." I replied.

"Don't you be sorry, Torr, don't." Aaron told me again. Then he moved closer and whispered right in my ear, "I want to see them again, your boys."

I grinned and nodded. "Of course, buddy, you're their uncle." I answered.

"Wow..." he let his voice trail off. "I won't tell anyone, I promise. I don't wanna get Nick in trouble. And I don't want you and the boys to have to be in the spotlight, in the media. Tell... tell my brother I'm mad at him... but I don't hate him. I could never hate him." Aaron said cutely.

"I will. See ya, buddy." I told him, "I love you Aaron."

"I love you too, Torr." he replied. With that, he turned and walked out of the room. I knew he was still crying. He was in shock. And he was mad at his brother. He stuck up for me, and I was glad.
