About the EUMS EAGLE BANDS
The band program at East Union Middle School consists of approximately 175 students and is comprised of three ensembles, one for each grade level. All three bands meet every day for 45 minutes of rehearsal.
6th Grade Band
The sixth grade band, co-conducted by directors Paul Jackson and Tracy Humphries, is made up almost entirely of students in their first year of band. The ensemble performs its first concert in the spring, where the concepts they have learned are translated into an impressive program of grade I and II music.
7th Grade Band
The 7th Grade Band, currently under the direction of Tracy Humphries, has been quite successful in recent years as a Grade II ensemble. They have received Superior Ratings in 1992, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2000. The 7th grade band also performs in our annual holiday concert and, combined with the 8th grade band, performs a spring concert which includes music at the Grade IV level.
8th Grade Band
The 8th Grade Band, currently under the direction of Paul Jackson, has also enjoyed a fine tradition of success, performing and competing at the Grade III level. They have received Superior Ratings in 1991, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999. The 8th grade band performs in our annual holiday concert in addition to the combined spring concert.
The 7th and 8th Grade Bands also perform in the Marshville Christmas Parade each year, honing their marching skills in preparation for high school band.
