Chapter 7
Tiffanie arrived in Virginia the next night. She was beat from the plane ride, but there was a special meeting for all the dancers in the banquet room of the Hilton Hotel where all the dancers were provided with complementary rooms. Tiffanie wondered to herself how this school afforded to do all this, but she definitely was enjoying it.
After unpacking and calling home, Tiffanie joined the room full of 20-something-year-olds.
The dance instructor, Kim Sales, stood at the front of the room. She was very pretty and looked to be in her late 20s.
"Welcome to our Pop/Hip-Hop Dance Camp," she said into a microphone. "This year we are proud to have members of *NSYNC as assistant teachers."
There was a round of applause, but Tiffanie couldn't move. Her favorite group was going to be instructing her! She couldn't believe her incredible luck, and furthermore, Daphne was going to kill her over the phone when she found out! Tiffanie realized that she had been sitting there in shock through most of the applause. She sat up straight and closed her wide open mouth. She looked around as she discreetly joined in on the applause. She didn't want to appear to be a wild, teenage *NSYNC fanatic-- even though she was-- she knew that this group was too "cool and sophisticated" for *NSYNC's music, but they probably admired their dancing skills.
Soon the meeting was over and Tiffanie couldn't stop herself from sprinting to the elevator. She couldn't wait to get back to her room and call Daphne!
Tiffanie ran blindly down the hallway when the elevator reached her floor.
"Why, oh, why is my room at the end of the hallway?" she mentally asked herself.
As she neared her room, a tall figure stepped out of the room next to hers. But it was too late to slow down. Tiffanie tackled her neighbor and they both fell to the floor.
"Oh, my gosh! I'm so, SO sorry! I am such a clutz!" Tiffanie apologized as she and her tackling decoy got up.
"Oh, that's alright," laughed an all too familiar voice. "We all need a good fall once in a while."
She looked up to see who she'd just tackled and froze in shock.
"Are you okay?" asked a smiling Justin Timberlake.
* * * * * * * * * *
"What did you say?" Daphne screamed into the phone.
"I couldn't say anything!" exclaimed Tiffanie. "I just nodded. He is even cuter in person."
"You know I hate you, right?" muttered Daphne.
"Yeah, I'll give JC your love," replied Tiffanie laughing. "Well, I better get off the phone now. I've gotta get up early."
"Well, remember to think of me while you're dancing with *NSYNC... watching their chisled bodies get all hot and sweaty... are you sure it's too late for me to try out?" joked Daphne.
"Bye, Daphne," laughed Tiffanie.
Chapter 8
Tiffanie raced down the hallway of Dance Explosion! School of Modern Dance. She was running late on the first day-- probably not a good first impression to make.
Just as she was nearing a corner someone stepped out of the men's restroom and she crashed into them. She looked up only to find that she was in the arms of none other than Justin Timberlake.
"Whoah, if this is the prize I get for stepping out of the restroom, I should do it more often!" Justin said looking down at her in his arms.
Tiffanie's heart raced as she looked up at the curly headed cutie.
"I am so sorry!" she said as he let go of her and she maintained her balance. The began walking to class together.
"You better get like a beeper or something to warn you when I'm around so you can run away before I tackle you again."
Justin laughed as they entered the dance class together. He joined JC at the front of the room and watched Tiffanie walk off to find a vacant spot.
"Hey, Tiffanie," he called to her before she'd gotten too far away from him. She turned around, surprised that he knew her name. "Maybe I like being tackled," he said with a smile.
She smiled back at him. She couldn't believe Justin Timberlake was flirting with her. This was heaven.
Tiffanie found a spot near the middle of the room as Kim Sales began to explain what they were going to be doing for the next six weeks.
"For the next six weeks we will be learning dances to all types of pop and hip-hop music," said Kim. "We're lucky enough to have the members of *NSYNC to help us learn some of their signature dance moves."
As Kim introduced each member of *NSYNC, Tiffanie stared at only Justin. She couldn't believe she'd met him. He was much more nice and sweet than she'd imagined. Kim put her hand on Justin's shoulder as she introduced him. He looked up and flashed that killer smile as his eyes scanned the room. They stopped on Tiffanie. His smile brightened and he winked at her. She returned his smile and her heart began to pound again.
"Out of every girl here, why on earth would Justin Timberlake choose to flirt with me?" thought Tiffanie. She didn't know, but she had a feeling that this was going to be the best six weeks of her life.
Chapter 9
Tiffanie stood in the lobby waiting for an elevator. She was exhausted.
"Boy, this dance class is no joke!" she thought.
"Race ya!" yelled a voice from around the corner. Curiously, Tiffanie stepped around the corner only to be tackled to the floor by Justin Timberlake.
"Excuse me, miss," Justin said, pushed himself off of her. "I'm really really so-" he stopped when he was up on his hands leaning over her. He smiled and began to laugh. "You know," he said, grinning at her, "we've really got to stop meeting like this!"
"Yeah, or we're both going to need a lot more insurance," said Tiffanie and they both laughed.
Just then, JC, Lance, Chris, and Joey came bounding around the corner.
"Ummm..." said Lance, observing the two on the floor in the suggestive position.
"Dude..." laughed JC, "what are you doing?
"I know you haven't had a date in a while because of the tour and everything, but you don't have to jump the first woman you're alone with for four seconds!" exclaimed Chris. Everyone burst into laughter as Justin stood to his feet and helped Tiffanie up.
"This is Tiffanie," Justin introduced, "you know... the one that's been using me as her tackling decoy?"
Everyone laughed.
"Looks liked the roles have reversed," commented Joey.
Tiffanie hugged each member of *NSYNC, telling each of them which of her friends had a crush on them. Her last hug was JC. She laughed and said, "My best friend is in love with you. Especially your arms!"
They all laughed as Chris clapped his hands saying "Hercules! Hercules!"
"Well, you've told us who all your friends' favorites are," said Lance smiling. "Who's your favorite *NSYNC-er?"
Chris and Joey laughed and shook their heads at the use of the word "*NSYNC-er".
"Welllll..." she began, smiling up at Justin. He raised his eyebrows and smiled, obviously pleased that he was her choice.
"Enough said," blurted Joey.
"Are you sure that all these run-ins have been accidents?" asked Chris, giving her a fake suspicious look.
"Trust me," replied Tiffanie, "even I couldn't have planned something this good."
Just then, the elevator come and they all piled onto it. Chris proceeded to press all of the buttons.
Justin rolled his eyes. "Must you do that on every elevator we get on?"
Chris turned away from his button pushing and looked seriously at Justin. "Does it bother you?"
"Yes!" said Justin stressfully.
"Then I must," replied Chris, turning back to the buttons. Lance, Joey, and JC laughed as Chris finished pushing the buttons. Justin managed a tiny smile.
"Lighten up," said Tiffanie, rubbing his shoulder and smiling. He smiled back at her as the elevator reached their floor.
The doors opened and Tiffanie and Justin walked through.
"Why aren't you guys all on the same floor?" asked Tiffanie as she and Justin walked down the hallway.
"Well," he said, "we figure if a tornado of fans finds one of us that we can call and warn each other before they make it to another floor... we all have keys to each others' rooms, too."
"Clever," said Tiffanie, "simple, yet clever."
Justin passed his room and walked with Tiffanie to her door. She looked up at him, surprised that he was still with her.
"Um, well," began Justin. He smiled nervously. "I was wondering... well, me and the guys- you know, Lance, Chris, JC, Joey- are going out to eat and maybe catch a movie or do something. I'd really like it if you'd come."
Tiffanie stood there in shock. She was being ASKED to hang out with *NSYNC by Justin Timberlake himself! She couldn't even speak.
"I mean, you probably have plans and all.. so if you can't come-" began Justin, looking away trying to hide his disappointment.
"No!" Tiffanie stopped him. "I mean, yeah... of course I'll come!!"
"Great!" he exclaimed, sounding a bit too eager. "I mean.. cool. I'll come get you in about... 20 minutes?"
"Okay," she said, unlocking her door. Justin watched her go inside. He smiled to himself.
"It's going to be a great six weeks," he thought as he let himself into his room.
