March 2001

Oh, the springtime! Most look forward to warmer days ahead and leaving winter behind. But if you're a fan of the Stanton Anderson Band, the first days of spring were to be looked forward to for another reason – the third series of gigs in the ongoing reunion of these resurgent rock & rollers.
For the loyal following of Stanton Anderson, the reunion is indicative of the re-birth of a bygone era in their lives – an era which would have remained a fond memory. But the band has come together again to give their fans what they've been missing all these years – Stanton's own distinctive brand of high-voltage rock & roll.
On Friday night, March 23, the band played Leavy's Last Stop Café in Huntington Station. The electricity could be felt immediately upon entering the club. One could sense that something extraordinary was about to take place. Longtime fans, some of whom traveled long distances for the shows, renewed friendships. There were fans meeting each other for the very first time, all brought together by the music. Things reached a fever pitch from the get-go as the band ripped into "Choppin' Wood." Sounding like they never went away, Stanton burned through two sets, in what Mark Fowler jokingly called the "Old, New, Borrowed and Blue Tour." Giving the crowd a taste of nostalgia with something old, the band re-introduced the rockin' "Roll On" with Rick Silecchio wailing on slide guitar, along with the beautiful ballad "Ride The Rain." For the "something new," the band showed that they don't plan to stand still, doing two of their latest works, "Love Thing" and "Don't Get Scared." Two very special moments made the night more than memorable. Tommy Banks, longtime rhythm guitarist joined SAB for the classic "Annabel Lee" and later formed a guitar army along with Rick and Joe Pisciotta for the crowd favorite, "Kill The Pain." Another very poignant and touching moment came when the band dedicated "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" to the memory of former SAB bassist Adam Calaci who passed away suddenly a few weeks before the gigs.
The next evening Stanton Anderson capped off the Village Pub's "Legends of Long Island" concert series at the Village Pub in Port Jefferson. The pub was literally packed wall to wall with a wildly enthusiastic crowd as the band delivered another night of blistering hot rock & roll.
It's obvious that the love affair between Stanton Anderson and their fans still burns to this day. That is quite a tribute to Mark, Rick, Joe, Larry Luby, Linda Mackley, Bobby Simons, Tom and Lola Foy, and the boys of Skid Row, Pete Tursi, Ronnie Cammeyer & Ian Platt. Come be part of the magic as the reunion continues on August 3 at Mulcahy's in Wantagh, and August 4 at the Village Pub in Port Jefferson. It guarantees that the summer of 2001 will be hot! Yes, Stanton Anderson is back, sounding like they never left!
