8.5.03- The Meek Band of Champions will be performing on band day at UNA! It will be a blast! Band day will be on September 6th.

8.4.03- Marching season starts soon and we are working on our half time show. we have some great music, including When Johnny Comes Marching Home, The Calvary, and The Glory. Check the football schedule to see who we play and when we play them. Until next time, c-ya!

4.23.03- Our spring concert is May first! We are playing a lot of exciting songs such as Looney Tunes Overture.

8.20.01- The first ballgame is this Friday! It will be a Jamboree in Cold Springs! Come support the football team, cheerleaders, and the band. It'll be great.

6.17.01- This year's marching season has begun. This year's band will be mostly inexperienced when it comes to marching. There will be 11 rookies this year. Most have played their instrument since fifth grade, but they have never marched before. Not only will last year's sixth grade class be moving up to the high school band, last year's fifth grade class (this year's sixth grade) will be marching with us as well. The rookies are: Zach Cleghorn-trumpet, Elizabeth Culver-2nd bass drum, Briana Emmons-flute, Robin Hyche-trombone, Kella Jackson-clarinet, Megan Jones-piccolo/flute, Tiffany Marchman-alto saxophone, Carl O'Rear-baritone/trumpet, Amanda Phillips-flag, Alyssa Rivers-flag, and Kayla Steele-flute. This year we will also have a flag corp. There will be three flags: Amanda Phillips, Alyssa Rivers, and Genisee Steele.
This year's seniors are: Tabitha Campbell-drum major, Melissa Harrelson-percussion/tenor, Sandra Hill-clarinet, Ginger Russell-clarinet, Nikki Thompson-percussion/fourth bass.

5.05.01- The Annual Spring Concert was held May 3, 2001 at the Meek High School New Gym. Thanks to all of those who came out and supported the Band.

Next year's marching show will be Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, Prelude from Pysco, a drumbreak featuring many horror movie and horror show themes, and Night on Bald Mountain. Next year's band officers include:

The band banquet will be May 11, 2001. The band will march in the annual Arley Day Parade May 19, 2001. The band will also play for the football team May 18, 2001 for their inter squad game.

3.23.01- The Meek Band made superior ratings at the Alabama State competition. The band will now start preparing for their Spring Concert and the annual Arley Day Parade.

2.17.01- Congradulations to Meek Band. The band will go on to state competition. They made superior ratings at District III Competition.

02.08.01- It has been decided that the band will not go on a spring trip.
The band will play at District III Band Competition in Cullman, Alabama on Friday, February 16, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

01.30.01- Congradulations to all who made All-State:

10.11.00- The band received superior ratings at the Tuscaloosa County band competition. The band made all 1's, won Best in Class in their class, and got 2nd best overall band. The drumline won 3rd place in their class.

9.16.00- This year the band will be attending the following competitions:


The band will be traveling to Orlando for their annual spring trip May 2-6, 2001. Thursday they will arrive and proceed to Wet & Wild Water Park to spend the day. Friday the band will hang out in Islands of Adventure. Saturday they will perform at Universal Studios. After the performance, the band members will hang out again at Universal Studios and the Island of Adventure theme parks.

8.28.00- The Band of Champions will be preforming at the annual Sweet Potato Festival in Crane Hill, Alabama. They will lead the parade. The band will play "Intro/Caravan".

5.23.00- The school year is over, along with the band season, but plans are already underway for a new season. The band will meet July 11th to get their marching music. Drum Camp will be July 17, 19, and 21. Rookie Camp will be July 18 and 20. Band Camp will start July 24-28. Section leaders will meet at various times in the summer to discuss plans for band camp.
There are eight seniors this year. There will be ten section leaders/seniors put together. They are: Josh Burgess-Sousaphone, Justin Bell-Trombone, Jeff Benson-Trombone, Brad Williams-Sousaphone, John Williams-Tenor Saxophone, Christi James-Trumpet, Gabrie`l Ganey-Drum Major, Amber Thomas-Clarinet, Tabitha Campbell-Flute (Junior), and Melissa Harrelson-Snare (Junior).
Eleven rookies will be joining the Band of Champions. They are: Brittany Benson-Clarinet, Stephanie Baldwin-Alto Saxophone, Justin Taylor-Alto Saxophone, Lance Mailloux-Trumpet, Clint Harbison-Trumpet, Meghan Calvert-Mellophone, Carmella Thompson-Trombone, Haley Jones-Baritone, Amanda Snyder-Pit, Ariel Wright-Bass Drum, and Chris Hopkins-Snare.

5.8.00- The band placed fourth in the concert band category at the Music in the Parks competition at Six Flags. The annual band banquet will be May 19.

4.7.00- Arley Day will be May 20. The band will be in the parade playing "Liberty Bell." Afterwards, they will preform a mini-concert with the band's alumni. There will be several fundraising activities for the band to participate in.

3.22.00- The band will be travelling to Atlanta, Georgia May 5-6 to participate in Spring Competition. They will be going to Six Flags Over Georgia and attending a Braves game.

3.18.00- The Annual Chittlin' Supper raised several thousand dollars for the band. Thanks to all who came and participated.
